This is one of my 80 artworks and every now and then I decide to paint something I would have or couldn’t create through digital art. I use a few doughnuts in my digital artworks so following my ‘Watching the Boats Sail Past’ I still wanted to paint doughnuts. So I painted a woman craving doughnuts, looking into the mirror and seeing a doughnut back. Her dress is glaze and I decided to replace items around the place with doughnuts. Clouds in Bubbles

I didn’t start this artwork with a goal in mind but wanted to create a turtle version of my ‘Bicycle Bridge’ where a turtle is stuck between two somewhat cliff edges. The image of the turtle doesn’t really fill the page so I changed my mind to creating a curvy wave that’s blowing bubbles and have the turtles climb across it. That idea didn’t last long and I ended up with clouds inside some bubbles and a hoop with an ordinary world in it, like the clouds in the bubbles are different universes. The videos on this artwork would be interesting to see unfold just based on how many times I changed my mind.

Exploding Giraffe

I have a pretty comprehensive portfolio of giraffe artworks but when I finished my ‘Doughsplosion’ artwork I decided I genuinely needs a giraffe version. I’m also quite sure that I came to that idea from the ‘Raffepopper’ artwork so it looks like I’m doing an idea spiral here. I also appreciate the coloured falling windows I put together in older artworks and wanted to include them in the explosion.

Doughsplosion

I decided to create another digital artwork with a doughnut in it since I haven’t created one in a while. While creating it I decided on a new idea, somewhat inspired by my ‘Raffe Popper’, but different and include the springs I’d just created using Blender. This artwork achieves something I’ve always wanted to show, movement so I really like the outcome.

Coffee With the Birds

I decided to create this artwork as cockatoos sometimes visit me and genuinely watch me colour in… I like to think they know they’re in some of my artworks. I tend to have a coffee when colouring in (I have a colouring in book series you should check out) so this artwork is coffee with the birds. Something I’m not doing intentionally is when I’m given instructions I tend to take the instructions as is but give it a creative twist. So if you wanted me to give you an image of coffee with birds, this is what you get.

I made this digital artwork to mark my 27th birthday and I was hoping to make somehting a lot cooler although I guess it didn't work out that way. It's entirely not my style although I'm getting good feedback so I guess its a success! Ironically my least favourite paintings sell first, so I guess that's the case with this one as well. Its a hologram, I intended to make a giant me in the clouds moving it although I guess not.

Getting Old

This is one of the later artworks during my 80 artworks project and intentionally simple. I thought about how every generation is so different yet we all go through the same stages and one day I won’t know how to use the modern technology (that probably wont happen judging my grandma though, maybe something else). We’re all the same, so I wanted to paint a row of armchairs sliding across a hallway down toward a window all watching the same sight. I initially intended to make the chairs look worn, time didn’t allow for that one. This artwork is one of my hand-stretched ones, sold with hooks ready to hang and a certificate of authenticity.

Movement

This is one of my 80 artworks and I began this idea with the intent of capturing movement within a painting after looking at Wyndham Lewis’s artwork ‘A Battery Shelled’ and seeing the movement there. The artwork took a plot twist when I looked at the painting image again in daylight and thought I was looking at something entirely different. I continued creating a response to what I thought I saw. I aimed to paint a running statue catching a ball which then turned into a statue hand throwing it and I aimed for the other parts of the artwork to appear as if they’re mid motion.

The artwork isn’t one of my favourites as it looks very different to my other paintings so I’m ‘on the fence’ with this one. Since I made it in October and months have passed before putting it up for sale I’m growing a liking to the result. Corporate 2

This artwork follows one I created in 2019, ‘Corporate’. I really like it, even the version I can colour in in my colouring in books. The artwork also follows on from my other artwork, ‘Trauma’ where the universe just dumps paint on you and you need to grow through it. When I worked in corporate I hated it, I was rapidly wasting my life being a puppet for people I swear are incredibly miserable. Selling my soul… Quite often people who work nine to five tell me about what’s really grinding their gears at the time. Work’s always the focus of their attention and never positive, then you hear about how team mates throw each other ‘under the bus’. It’s a total mess. I originally named the artwork “Corporate Mess” painting a continuation of the previous artwork, just zoomed out, hen decided to name it “2”. The Hallucination

One day I was colouring in my colouring in book and felt an ant crawling on my hand, I then looked again and it was gone. You could say it jumped off or something, but I went down a thought trail and wondered if the ant was ever there in the first place? I had just read a book, ‘Genius, The Natural History of Creativity’ by H. J. Eysenck which explains that studies show more creative people tend to sit closer on the scale to psychosis. So wondering whether I’m immune to this trend was on my mind, if I am, am I not even that creative? Is the creativity a hallucination too? I continued the thought alongside this fresh new insight on psychology, it’s possible I imagined the ant… It’s possible I’m imagining everything around me. You could be insane and never know it. I shared the thought with a friend, she added we might not even be friends and either of us could be sitting there alone talking to ourselves. Then you add the reality that reality is just warped to your perspective and what you engage with. So if nothing’s real, then everything’s real and there’s no such thing as anything. From there I decided to paint the ants. I painted my hand but they’ve opened up a rabbit hole for me so I painted holes in the hands where birds fly in and out, like the birds in my artworks. I decided nothing’s real so the table turns into an ocean and some boats seem to be on struggle street knocked over. Then you’ll see that turns into a wave of water and travels into the distance. I tried making the room warp at the edges and the clouds sit as a pendant inside. The birds on the window are a reference to my digital artwork ‘Cockatoo’s at My Window’ This artwork is one of my hand-stretched ones, sold with hooks ready to hang and a certificate of authenticity.

Novelty

This is one of my 80 artworks and I wanted to create something that has my style and also similar to ‘Midnight Snack’, I believe I aced that part of my goal. I also wanted to paint this artwork as I’m often using banana’s in my artworks yet I can’t eat them. They’re just a novelty for me. I like to paint banana’s in a cubist way and off coloured so now when I see this shape I just see the fruit. The rest of the scene is just playful, I wanted them to be sliding down a slide and have birds also interacting. Criticising Astrology

A bicycle can be self-stable without gyroscopic or caster effects’ – A study by J. D. G. Kooijman, J. P. Meijaard, Jim M. Papadopoulos, Andy Ruina4 & A. L. Schwab. Astrology attracts the kind of “skeptics” who show no interest in actually speaking to an astrologer or even looking into anything past a sun signs article in a pop magazine (any astrologer will elaborate on the misconception here). The astrological critics are sharp with their words, quick to label anyone studying it an idiot. To those critics, please let me know how a bicycle balances itself. We both see an event happening and not being able to explain the physics doesn’t discount the result. After an astronomer on YouTube went to the effort to create a purely hate based video on astrology I came to wonder why I’d be watching any of their other videos. The comments, also aggressive and no one looked into topic that they were arguing is fake, often bringing up Uranus and Pluto... Which an astrologer can very clearly explain. So I painted a person statue with flowing water over them, in astrology water is relation to emotions, it’s over their head. A bicycle through the head, a somewhat direct way of showing you’re being thick about this. I placed Uranus in the sky next to the head as they argue the entire validity of the topic based on Uranus being discovered in 1781, barbed wire wheels as electricity was discovered in 1752, something Uranus rules. From here I came up with an idea about the pyramid generators which will be another painting.

The moon crashed in the water as the moon also represents your emotions. The statue wrapped in papers in a way the statue can’t read it but uses it as a shield. Anthony Albanese as Hitler

This painting is a reflection of Australian politics in 2024. I decided to complete this artwork during one of my 20 artworks in 20 days challenges so it’s not my best work, however I didn’t enjoy looking at Hitlers portrait and I didn’t like looking at Albanese’s any more. Nothings Random

In this artwork I decided to try a new tactic where you see above the ground and below. Since this was my first attempt and also during my 80 artworks I believe I could have done better. Either way, it’s not bad! I also aimed to have more of a landscape where my artwork showcases a scene instead of one centred item. The idea of this artwork is based on how nothing’s random. A passing thought when I joke about simulation theory. Then I wondered why there’s people who genuinely believe that random things happen… The thought that the entire world is a massive domino effect doesn’t apply in their version of reality. I believe things happen exactly as planned, whether you choose to do it through one way or another. 

To paint this I tried to show tunnels beneath the ground and one item in one end and something else on the other end, water enters one tunnel then wind exits another which turns into clouds. It all seems linked to me, go on and ask someone how often they needed something and it turns up on their curb side. I find it interesting to see just how many people this happens to. I’m a big fan of those middle of the road shots! I’ve used my photo from the Royal National Park before and decided to use it again in this artwork. I then felt like adding water that I photographed from Vaucluse to create this.

Story

This is one of my twenty-one artworks in twenty-one days. I’m not proud of this one and I didn’t time manage well at all. But it’s here and ready for its new home. I’ll try again one day. The concept for this one was to make an artwork that tells a story, which I think it does do. The way ‘Hotel California’ or ‘Hazard’, or any of Bosch artwork’s tell stories, so I whipped out my tarot deck and decided to paint three cards. I rushed it so this is the result. I wanted to include three different clouds and areas as if the protagonist is either returning or venturing out and looking back. The story is up to you. Times Passing You By

This is the final idea from my 80 artworks challenge and I aimed to show how people let time pass them by so easily. Definitely not as well executed as other artworks and an idea I’ll definitely come back to. I began the challenge as I saw a planet alignment coming up and needed to make sure I have my artworks set so whatever comes my way won’t affect the art machine. A daunting idea, 80 artworks in 77 days (and I went over by 2 days). Yet every time I thought about it I looked back at my other goals that year and reflected on how many activities I’ve completed by just showing up. Showing up is easy, then staying is easy. 

So many people let time pass them by and it could have been very easy for me to just say “tomorrow” over and over again for the 11 weeks and missed my window. I’ve done it before, and it’s not a good feeling looking back and seeing you wasted months on end putting off a one hour task. So this is the artwork, a thinking statue and their head flying off with the birds as if they’re time. But this guy isn’t going anywhere, he’s just kidding himself.
