I did the trek down to Garie beach in the Royal National Park, NSW and returned with a photo of the Figure Eight pool that I’m pretty proud of. So when the Wynne Prize, 2018 rolled around I decided to paint a recreation of the digital artwork, still coming to the realisation it’s quite a challenge to swap between types or art! There was an abandoned artwork beneath this one where the paint marks can still be seen on an angle. The previous artwork was about the plastic lifestyle of celebrities and showed Taylor Swift cling wrapped to the canvas.
