I think this artwork hits home harder for residents in Melbourne. The buyer ended up being from there. When I paint cacti I like to think of them of versions of people and I’m really proud of how this one turned out. At the time, COVID had hit and we were all required to wear masks out in public. Some people inferred that at ini your car with all your windows up too, studies also show it didn’t make a difference and anyone with an opposing opinion was silenced. So whether you see this as the cactus was silenced or the cactus wants to wear the mask it’s up to you.
