This painting just happened, I started painting and originally wanted just a pear in an ocean… Then it just worked out the way it did. So I call it “unexpected” as it shows as a metaphor as well. Later on I ended up recreating this artwork in a few speed rounds of busking and an Art Battle. I originally wanted to paint a house floating from the mountain and then decided to change it, this is the outcome. This artwork is one of my smallest ones which makes it a tad trickier to execute with the same level of detail as a larger artwork, in the end I think it turned out quite sweet! This is one of my earlier giraffe artworks and I wanted to include both giraffe photos I have. I also wanted to play with the idea of giraffe height so I created a pool in the sky and then visiting it. Similar to some other night time artworks, I struggled with the night time background for a while and I’m not sure I’ve fully mastered it yet. I remember pulling over to take a few photos for this artwork and I assumed no one was paying attention. A moment later a man asks me if I’m okay or selling my car? No… Had to pause and make some art… You know. So the artwork’s background is the actual shot, more black than dark blue that I now think would be more suitable for my artworks. The rest is just me playing around seeing how the artwork would play out with a flying car.

Every time I look up this artwork in my files I never find it. Past me titled this artwork “Couch Hole”. I hope that sheds some light on the transformation this artwork went through then eventually landed here. I remember somewhat wanting to pop my couch in the ocean, then from there that lead into making a geometric hole in the ocean, then I guess it didn’t look right and here we are. I think this one is much more coherent, considering my artworks are surreal in general.

Sometimes when I create a digital artwork I create many versions or save a version before changing it and in some cases I can’t decided which one I want to sell. Usually I’ll just throw any suitable version up because after a few years of sales I see that my taste isn’t everyone’s taste and the art lovers often choose artworks I would have never guessed. When creating this artwork I wanted to use my black an white portrait photo but mix it with the challenge of turning it gold, digitally and also add a painting in it as well. I guess I went in loaded wth ideas for this one and I’m not sure I hit the mark! These are the results. Definitely funky.

This is an appropriation of the artwork 'The Guitar Player' by Jean-Baptiste Greuze 1755-60 71 x 56cm. I haven't seen the original in real life although managed to copy most of it from a small book. The appropriation is based on the object that the guitar player is holding, in the original he holds an actual guitar and in my appropriation he holds a computer with Logic Pro X open which shows tracks; differentiating between then and now. Mix between romanticism and surrealism. This artwork is one of my hand-stretched ones and always sold with hooks ready to hang!

Here we go again with another challenge artwork. I’ve tried this so many times and I feel like I never master it; creating a painting out of a digital artwork and vice versa. The artwork I tried to recreate is ‘Art in Desert’ but since my digital artworks are just creativity vomit and the paintings have concepts, I tied a concept to it. This painting is for all the optimists out there. When I wake up and make breakfast I see a fun day ahead, still full of work although at the same time feels like a holiday. That's why I painted the plates to sort of be a pool, the bottle to be reminiscent of a palm tree and the tiles to either be sky or a hotel. What do you choose to see? This is an appropriation and a moment in time where I looked at my final Dali artwork. For a little while, I was receiving compliments that my work is reminiscent of that of Salvador Dali, I researched him and decided his painting “Suez” is my favourite. I then decided to appropriate it. I found the original quite funny, this is a play on that and perhaps a continual.. Both slightly comical. I then decided I didn’t want to be seen as a copycat and this was the last time I ever looked at any of his artworks. Sometimes I see them in passing and think, yeah we do share a style but I’m not subconsciously copying. This artwork was surprisingly well received! It features in my colouring in book if you’re in the mood to create your own version. I decided I was in the mood to create a sea of moons melting at night. Night artworks are tricky though, compared to my day time ones they lack something. It’s not something I’ve mastered yet, in my opinion. However I’ve been told by more than a handful of people they love it, unprompted. So I guess that’s how it lands!

This is a painting of a package floating over a hole in the ground, in the desert. I created this small painting to represent hopes and fears, when people have a physical package unexpectedly arrive at their home, people tend to be excited and expect good things. Ironically humans tend to fear the future and what's in store for them.. the unknown bothers people. I'm bouncing off the idea that the unknown future is a package in the form of time and experiences that was specially sent for the individual, but they didn’t order it and don’t know if it’s a good idea to open it. This is one of a few New Years artworks I’d created, similar to my Christmas artwork, I was part of a digital artists group on Instagram who always created something to match the festive theme of the time. I took part quite a few times but it didn’t end up sticking with me. At the time I’d created quite a few artworks where I cut the ground in a geometric manner so I wanted to incorporate that into a photo I took at The Gap, Vaucluse. I then needed to be diving into the new year so that’s me in there.

This is a digital artwork I created from photos that appear in older artworks and new ones. I photographed the road for my ‘Alpaca Rd’ artwork and reuse it here, from there I wanted to create the cube, flat earth look and changed the lighting and perspective so the ground drops off in a geometric way. From there I wanted parts of the artwork to be raised, similar to my Elephant artwork and a painting named ‘Politics’. Once I reached that point I needed some subjects and I was fostering a pack of kittens at the time that I named after famous red heads, Rupert Grint, Pauline Hanson and Ed Sheeran. I took photos of them and here they are! The final result reminded me of Mine Craft so that’s the title there.

This was another challenge artwork to see how well I could execute painting a digital artwork of mine. I think I did alright but it’s still a challenge in general because we’re comparing pixels vs paint. I titled it ‘Carbon Footprint’ because sometimes to be seen as an artist you need to play into the current social agenda, we are always asked to tick boxes what social issue that is currently popular we believe in. Once you do then your artwork is deemed fit to be shared in specific spaces where it has higher visibility. It’s a sad side of being an artist, it encourages people to become sell-outs. At the time I wanted my artworks in competitions, not realising yet it’s who you know. So I had to title it something that gave meaning to environmental issues. Before this artwork I created one underneath it, then rage quit and painted this one. My previous artwork was a woman sailing away from an island and I called it ‘Leaving’ because I realised I’d grown differently to my friends and didn’t fit in anymore. From my 2019 trip to the zoo I managed to create this artwork using the turtle photo before losing the batch of photos. This was a tricky one because the turtles really blend in with the ground and the texture of the ground was tricky to seperate. In later years I spend more time fully cleaning up the turtles to use in their full capacity.

This artwork is mostly photography over digital artwork. When fostering kittens in 2018 I took a photo of two playing because they looked like a heart. When kittens are really small, like humans, they also have blue eyes so I wanted to keep that part of the photo popping.

This is another artwork I created from my zoo visit where I really struggled to capture a clean photo of the hippo! This was a tough one because if I can’t seperate the hippo then I have to use the greenery around it in the artwork. I also added the challenge of using Photoshop’s wet brush. This was really interesting to make, I first increased the saturation on the layers below so the wet brush would pick up the colours and smudge them then reverted the original colours leaving behind this funky 60’s hippy pattern. I thought this was an awesome technique and continued it on throughout other digital artworks.
