In this artwork I play with psychology and gentrification. As I opened Saatchiart to upload one of my artworks another “artwork” caught my attention. This was priced at $20K+, so I clicked onto the artwork to see what majestic concept the “artist” aimed to channel. None. The listing literally said ‘décor’. I’m offended. So offended turned my offence into an artwork. ‘Simulation theory’ then kicks in and I happened to stumble across a massive canvas to repurpose for this concept. I decided to genuinely show off my talent in this piece although price it stupidly high on the online galleries and have no description, to give the impression it’s décor. I’m assuming the gallery will place it in a nice position since they’ll make a huge commission, I aim for the viewers to question the price. Leading them to see my other artworks and seeing a huge discrepancy. I wonder if the viewers will then look up my name and see this description on my own website to see I’m mocking the gentrification of décor artists and have a real description and appropriate price here (according to my level of fame). The game here is if someone ends up buying it direct, they win the game… If they go through a gallery without finding the true meaning of the artwork, I win the game. I risk being kicked off the online galleries with this artwork although that’s part of the statement I’m making. I tried painting this in 9 days although finished it in ten, because of the timeline I gave myself there’s definitely some tiny parts where I could have calculated the paint drying better so there are a few touch-ups which don’t reflect my aim to entirely show off my talent… The items in the artwork aren’t meant to have meaning however I definitely painted it with a story in mind, that’s just the way it worked out. Trauma

This artwork was created in early 2019, beneath it was an attempt at a different artwork of a woman but I rage quit and continued with this one. I call it trauma, titled before the word was over-used in everyday language by gen z, to describe peoples perseverance. When you pour paint on a plant it has no choice but to continue growing through it, so take that and apply it to your own hardships. This artwork may end up being my favourite forever and has had more cacti added to the collection but with different concepts. This cactus has become a symbol for my artworks as Magritte is to his apple. I made an artwork which I still consider my best, ‘Trauma’, and haven’t been able to recreate one just as good but I think this one might be on par. Just with less effort visible in the paint since I did all the practice on that artwork. The cacti I paint are people, roughly. This time I wanted to paint flow state, it’s the state of mind where you’re absorbed in your task but in so deep you forget you’re doing it and work autonomously while your mind wanders. This is where I am when I paint, in the rabbit hole. I think it deserved an artwork. In the bottom right I added a cherry, for the ideas that randomly pop into mind when in flow state and the clouds focused on the cactus. Fall of Bulgaria

A while ago I decided to paint a personified history of Bulgaria, the man on the left is Krum, the Bulgarian who lead Bulgaria to take over most of Eastern Europe and the man on the right is the fall of Bulgaria representing the loss of land into nothing. Krum famously severed the head of his opponent and turned his skull into a cup. I painted the cup in gold (gold is better) and had the man watching the cup as he's being attacked as if he's more worried about the legacy and not his life. This is a challenge artwork that I left at my grandma’s. During a previous visit I’d painted my grandpa who’d passed away about 30 years ago today, for my grandma. However the tools I had at hand were tricky to use and it came out mediocre at best. Since then I’ve done quite a few art challenges like busking, art battles, 80 artworks in 79 days and so on so now I have a much better grip on creating artworks in situations that aren’t ideal and with terrible paint. This time I didn’t have my trusty water mixable oils which dry much faster than the denser oils and had to use thick oils. I ended up only having two weeks for this artwork after having found turpentine (which was impossible there!). The next challenge for this artwork was the brushes. I had about seven of the same size, one large and one tiny brush, so I made this artwork with just three brushes. Unfortunately it’s not for sale but it’s here to be apart of the collection of artworks I want to share with you.

I did the trek down to Garie beach in the Royal National Park, NSW and returned with a photo of the Figure Eight pool that I’m pretty proud of. So when the Wynne Prize, 2018 rolled around I decided to paint a recreation of the digital artwork, still coming to the realisation it’s quite a challenge to swap between types or art! There was an abandoned artwork beneath this one where the paint marks can still be seen on an angle. The previous artwork was about the plastic lifestyle of celebrities and showed Taylor Swift cling wrapped to the canvas. Waiting on the Sunset, Steven

I'm against doing commissions however this one seemed a tad unique and I took it on, the end result doesn't look like this and I won't be showing the final result. That is exclusive to the owner and I'm very proud of the first version. The original request of this artwork were to re-create a small painting I'd made, 'Solid Choice', only larger. I changed this artwork up accordingly, this time keeping the sheet flat and having water holding it up. I included the spotty birds which feature in my artwork, 'Flock Party' to represent a rainbow which refers to a jargon term from an event in the owners life. I included a pear as my stamp on the artwork and Virgo the constellation as the man in the painting has an Irish/ Russian background which both share a Virgo rising sign. Since I've been looking at Bosch artworks lately I'm interested in adding detail in the artworks. There is morse code in this one.

Snacking & Daydreaming

I began this painting with an entirely different idea in mind, originally having the cow-pear in a therapy chair facing a picture that resembles a window with a tree branching in and the walls divided into indoors and outdoors. Instead I didn't vibe with the painting and decided to get creative with it. In the mornings I have breakfast on my balcony surrounded by trees and look up into the blue sky. So I decided to paint that. The fruit stuck on the wall is my breakfast, as if the cow-pear keeps it there, pulling one down to snack on it and it looks out into the blue where there are imaginary animals. I decided to paint the coloured elephants and giraffes from my digital artworks. At first I wanted to paint the elephant with the same long curly legs as the giraffe although I face an obstacle where people liken my artworks to Dali's so I needed to avoid elephants with long legs. Instead I stretched it's ears into and behind the water. I hid the giraffes face and originally intended to hide the elephants face (although it began to look creepy) with the idea that they share a head. The tape is different on each fruit because I wanted to reference the real life issue where tape always seems to be running out! I also decided it was important to brand the items in the paintings with barcode stickers of my own. Oil based, sold with hooks ready to hang and a certificate of authenticity!

Charles Manson the Rock Star

While listening to a podcast the guest began playing a song which I then shazamed. I was surprised to learn that the artist was Charles Manson, but I do sit in the camp of separating the art from the artist so I decided to paint him as the rock star he never became. This was also my first artwork being documented in the form of a “How to” so each step was documented with incredible detail. I decided to paint an outfit as a mix of ideas from 80’s rock stars, the guitar and tattoo are odes to his cult and the expression is Bruce Springsteens. A guest recently visited and mentioned the expression makes her uncomfortable which is precisely how I wanted it to turn out. To have that Charles Manson crazy face look but also showing that expression Bruce showcases in the example photo. My first cactus artwork was a hit and people encouraged me to create more, of the same… After a while I learnt that people who aren’t artists have very bad marketing ideas, you reading this are no exception. This is one of my 80 artworks and every now and then I decide to paint something I would have or couldn’t create through digital art. I use a few doughnuts in my digital artworks so following my ‘Watching the Boats Sail Past’ I still wanted to paint doughnuts. So I painted a woman craving doughnuts, looking into the mirror and seeing a doughnut back. Her dress is glaze and I decided to replace items around the place with doughnuts. This is a painting of a pear with a cow hide skin growing from a hand shaped tree with sparkles on it, the inside of the pear has a ladder and birds flying from it. I had this canvas sitting waiting to be started and I just decided that I wanted to paint a pear with a cow hide skin in a dim setting, I had no intention with meaning behind it, so like a viewer seeing the painting for the first time I decided what it meant for me after I completed it. I’m a big fan of cow hides, using the whole cow. I have a few and to me they’re a medal, like when you make one the star of you’re home you’re showing off the sacrifices the cow made throughout it’s life, I painted (and own) holstein cow hides which is the cow that produces milk, so the idea of how many babies and people in general that cow gave it’s nutrients to and the hard work comes to mind when I wonder about a life it would have had. Pears in my paintings also play along with the metaphor when people say something went “pear shaped”. So I personally see it that the pear is the life/home I’m building through my hand crafted career. Oil Based, signed with a certificate of authenticity and ready to hang.

Special Edition

This artwork was created as part of the mini series with cactuses. The cactus is skin coloured and the paint pouring from the sky now turns into flowers as it lands on the cactus. I call it “Special Edition” because, based on the idea that the other painting, Trauma, was based on living through situations, this is the variation where the subject thrives in the environment and turns the paint to flowers, metaphorically turning a bad situation to a wonderful one, they're the special edition. Thinking Things Up

This is the first artworks I painted after my 80 artworks in 79 days. After that challenge I had a new way of managing my time which allowed me to focus on the details of my artworks more than before. The idea is to create an artwork purely based on imagination instead of making a point. I also wanted to paint an artwork that I couldn't easily do with a computer. I began this artwork as a challenge to create a painting similar to my digital artworks as my digital artworks have a different style to my paintings. I've tried this many times and it's something I haven't mastered. This one however turned out much better. I believe there are aspects here that I couldn't have done with a computer, as my brother once said "you can do anything with paint, but you can't on a computer". I find this to be true. I love these spiky waters I first created in my painting, 'Devils Lake', and want to make more. This time without a harsh context but an unknown substance as the topic. From there I intended to paint the rabbits floating out of the spikes in bubbles. This probably didn't convey. Rabbits because the 80 artworks felt like a total 11 week long rabbit hole! I intentionally wanted to paint horses in positions you wont be able to photograph, then merging into the fabric of the boat where a face hides (the head of your imagination) and the boat travels through dropping fabric that resemble limbs of the statues I painted in the past. No Nostalgia

I can't say I'm a fan of nostalgia and especially not a fan of people who reach out from a place of nostalgia, it makes me uncomfortable. One main reason for experiencing nostalgia is the brains coping mechanism, if you're feeling down, the brain will likely bring up nostalgic memories to cope. So I feel like it's a big red flag when people pop up out of no where, I'm not sure about other people although it happens about every 3 months for me so I made a painting about being on the receiving end. The left side of the painting is me and a very realistic colour scheme, I have a home with some pretty cool curtains and a few cow hides so I made a funkier version. Teal is also my favourite colour. I painted the cut cord of a phone one my end of the painting and a skeleton reaching out holding a phone on the other side. Bubbles floating in the air because I feel like bubbles are enjoyable to have around and I'm having a good time. On the right side of the painting there are some coloured skeletons, if you watch the recording of the painting you'll see I played around with grey skeletons covered in flowers and decided against it. Coloured, somewhat like plastic dolls. I decided to paint the lighting on this side as if you're looking through a rainbow, party lighting. These people tend to enter my life with no warning and barging in disturbing whatever I have going on as if they're a fun gift for me, only to realise I'm a mask for whatever issues they have going on ready to suck me in. The skeletons are holding onto each-other because it feels like once you let one in, a million others follow. Depending on how you look at the pink skeleton in the centre, it's either looking directly at you or at the ground. Sold with hooks ready to hang, hand stretched and a certificate of authenticity!

The Dunning-Kruger Degree

Everyone probably agrees that there’s a rise in mental disorders alongside technology. Every now and then I meet someone who brandishes their diagnosis collection like medals, then go a step further and tell me what I am… Plot twist, I’m nothing, I’m a perfectly healthy young woman and that opinion needs to step right back to where it came from, it’s inappropriate behaviour. What I’ve understood so far… These people are using articles that show up on their first page of a, potentially bias, Google search which include phrases like “13 reasons you’re”. Or YouTube videos of someone who did that for them. These aren’t thousand page studies, or books written by psychologists but more and more people walk around as if that’s what they’re equipped with. I found one of these people particularly jarring when they had to be correct, so I questioned it and ended up with this artwork. I began painting this artwork as a man then it ended up being a woman because of paint logistics (check out the video on that one), but the concept overall was to paint books as eye lasers. As if the person who’s shooting out diagnosis’ is using their new found opinion as lasers out to get you. I painted the lasers as books since there’s no actual books going on here. If I were being socially confronted with someone who read studies I’d have taken a different approach and painted someone throwing books, so that’s where the laser books idea comes from, empty, like the weight of the opinions being thrown at me. Underneath I left the ground bare from grass since it really felt like these interactions needed to leave the person correct at all costs, no friendship will be left behind if they’re wrong, no life for anything new to grow. I also tried painting the head as a huge statue in the distance being held up by the tree, I’m not sure I hit the mark though. I decided to paint a self portrait since I happen to be whipping them out every few years, this time I didn't paint it as a mid-shot front on artwork but a reflection of how I've spent my 20's. Painting until I drop at the easel. Painting the look of gold (without using gold) is a challenge I've been working on lately and my home is gold themed so I tackled that in this painting as well, turning the furniture gold. I still don't think I've figured it out so I guess it's also a reflection of how much progress I'd made with gold by this age. I Love My Leather Gloves

This is one of my more cryptic painting than the others, I painted a hand with a cow hide pattern and cows legs as finger tips to represent leather gloves. I've been working on changing the structure of my paintings so when painting this one I wanted to obstruct the view as opposed to looking directly on it. The same way extreme vegans may obstruct your admiration of a leather product which may have been sourced humanely. Recently I watched a Youtube video where the creator joked about Jesus and from there I came to the conclusion there aren’t enough Jesus paintings. All the actual Jesus paintings I’ve seen are from the 1400’s and earlier, I also wanted him to be a hippy, so the new owner can be in a mood then look over at the artwork and think “What would Jesus do?”… This Jesus. While creating the artwork I learnt that there are sects of religions that follow the bible who allow icons and some that don’t. Then I went a step further for a new artwork to visit a few different religious places of worship and found that some religions take it seriously and other just say they don’t have icons, but seem to have them there in plain sight. So this is an artwork for the Jesus lovers who allow icons and want a real artwork, made with love and definitely not a print (prints of paintings… my own personal form of blasphemy). The Atmosphere

A painting of Tupac I created in 2016. It's was a long standing favourite for a long time and sat in my entry hallway to greet people. Portrait of My Sadness

A while back I felt sad and since the universe dumped an excessive amount of talent this way, I decided to paint a portrait of my sadness to make other people feel sad when they stop and watch the artwork. This isn’t a self portrait. Since a smile is contagious, so is everything else. I added a severed hand, the idea originally spawned from a recently sold artwork ‘The Decomposed Musician’ then I decided it’s representative of the memories that keep their grip. Floating fruit in the background representing my art goals as unfocused 3D glasses since being sad makes it hard to focus on them. Birds stuck in the wall, unlike all my other bird artworks where they fly freely and a frame around her head as women are strongly influenced to keep from confronting issues and sit pretty, until it’s too late to communicate. After the Races

This is an artwork which I tried challenging myself to paint and finish in a week along with 10 others. I didn't have the rest of my life organised enough to achieve the goal so half of this was done in that week and the rest later. The idea for this artwork shaped itself as the originally intended to be a purple spotty horse like my other surreal animals although when I came back to it I didn't feel it had enough substance to it. When I finished the painting I had my pen pal on the phone and asked him what he saw an he mentioned the background, so I ran with that idea that someone may look at this then focus on the background. Since I have holes in things all the time in my digital artworks I carried that over here and decided they're bullet holes. The painting started to form the media style opinion of after the races which made me feel it needed an audience so I painted the statues in the background representing the polarising opinions people have on the races and the consequences after. Smudged Elephant

This is an artwork I created in 2017 based on my artwork ‘Elephant’ and then smudged it in Photoshop hoping to make a digital artwork, then rage quit and painted it instead because the styles don’t cross over. Great outcome though because it turns out everyone else see’s this as a bird. It took me a few years to see the bird and it becomes a great discussion topic showing people the elephant. Later on I then looked back at this artwork and went down a rabbit hole of illusions. It became a finalist for the Royal Art Society, Youth Prize in North Sydney. This artwork is was originally acrylic then I painted it again with oil once I found water mixable oils. This is one of the later artworks during my 80 artworks project and intentionally simple. I thought about how every generation is so different yet we all go through the same stages and one day I won’t know how to use the modern technology (that probably wont happen judging my grandma though, maybe something else). We’re all the same, so I wanted to paint a row of armchairs sliding across a hallway down toward a window all watching the same sight. Survival Instinct

I'm often surrounded by women who are have boys on their mind 24/7, I don't really comprehend how they have so much mental bandwidth for the topic although after years of listening to their stories that seem almost parallel to the previous or another woman's story I recently noticed a pattern where they always tell me their fantasies of the future. They'll get married, the guy will support them with XYZ, live happily ever after and she'll have less problems (as if it's connected). It clicked for me, I finally realise that this is their survival instinct, if these women I'm meeting focus on one topic, the men, instead of various topics such as career and independence then their future is sorted. This is my piece of mind and I can now justify why some women can be so obsessed, instead of thinking to myself in a critical manner. When I put this thought into a picture in my mind, I see a glass woman with a man trapped inside as her brain. Pink dots on the floor which also cover the glass statues, blending into the surrounding environment. The trapped men have no clothes because clothes would give them identity and from my point of view it doesn't look like the personality or anything individual about the men seems to matter. Truly Entertained

I’m not a fan of the algorithms controlling my entertainment and ended up watching a bunch of old movies from the 90’s and 2000’s. We all already know that movies these days will likely suck in comparison, then adding in the internet where people upload reaction videos daily for the sake of uploading and people watch them for the sake of having background noise. We aren’t truly entertained here. There’s a few movies you can watch dozens.. maybe hundreds of times and still be entertained since they’re so well written. LOTR for example, or I ended up watching Impromptu many times. Then I decided to paint Hugh Grant statues as if each statue has a turn on stage and each time we notice something different about how the production was delivered. In the background behind the wall is the death of entertainment where a bunny on it’s last legs crawls out of the horror of braindead entertainment. This painting came to mind after I went test driving cars and the guy almost refused to give me the keys because the car was a manual.. He literally said “No no you're a girl you can't” emphasising his perspectives. I thought about it and this sexism actually hasn't died at all, often people hide their sexism behind phrases such as “It's nice to see a woman xyz” as if we're genetically disadvantaged yet socially acceptable. I have a motorbike which makes sexism incredibly noticeable from my perspective although I feel I have all the freedom in the world. The sheer material is the “freedom”. You never know what’s going on in someone’s life when you meet them. We also live in a culture where online presence plays a big factor in keeping up with the Joneses. I wanted to paint the idea that in many cases someones putting up an image of squeaky clean perfect duck and underneath the water is actually a bunch of brown feathers frantically paddling away keeping things together. This artwork is a close friends favourite, it really resonates with her and she ended up snapping it up. She would always look at it and cross her fingers it ended up in her home and it eventually did! The Guitar Player

This is an appropriation of the artwork 'The Guitar Player' by Jean-Baptiste Greuze 1755-60 71 x 56cm. I haven't seen the original in real life although managed to copy most of it from a small book. The appropriation is based on the object that the guitar player is holding, in the original he holds an actual guitar and in my appropriation he holds a computer with Logic Pro X open which shows tracks; differentiating between then and now. Sometimes when I'm painting I have a bit of a rest next to the easel as a mini break, before I painted this artwork I took one of those breaks and as I looked at the ceiling wondered when my career will take off. So I started painting the painting as if the face is emerging from the ground and when I flipped it to add detail I changed my mind and decided it would be better as the roof, as if someone's looking down, watching back. I painted the ladder hanging from the roof as if it's painting the face which is watching. Painting the career I'm hunting for. I originally had a very different idea in mind for this painting, if you watch the video you can see I began to paint a couple ideas and landed on this one. This was a lockdown challenge painting (I completed a colouring of my book, a digital art or painting) and I reckon if I weren't painting it as part of my challenge it would have been one of those paintings that takes weeeeeks. So I named it 'Get a Grip' because I certainly didn't have a grip on this one, although I'm satisfied with how it turned out. My mum see's it as ladders to heavan, I see a blobs not being contained by the wings and dripping down into the unknown. The One True God

A short while before making this artwork I decided I wanted some insight into religions so I visited different places of worship during their usual worship time as a fly on the wall experience. I originally planned on visiting a Christian church, an Islam mosque and a Buddhist temple. Unfortunately this is a more exclusive activity than I thought and couldn’t figure out the Buddhist schedule. I visited an Anglican church and an Islam mosque and took part in their services. Ironically I went in expecting what the media portrayed, being in a western society we are convinced that muslims are dangerous and people of Christ are welcoming. Now flip that perspective to imagine what I experienced. I sat in the Anglican Church biting my tongue listening to the bible being recited on how they laid waste and destroyed the other beliefs scrolls (I personally hate burning literature) then praised blindly believing that God will save you. I asked, “Don’t you think you need to solve your own problems for God to open up opportunities instead of just prey?”. They preached that you are always right as well. I left feeling somewhat violated as if they’re raising narcs in that particular church. I then visited Islam and joined in with the prayers, this time they preached getting your act together, fasting is approaching and you need to be prepared, they preached contacting your loved ones and checking in. A fantastic 30m pep talk anyone could do with. The people were welcoming and I left feeling like the media wrongly portrays Muslims… or perhaps the individual journalists are prejudice. But one thing was true with both experiences. Their God/ Allah is the one true God/ Allah. Yours is wrong and they are both worshiping the right way. So this artwork is the two religions talking to each other debating who’s right. The Anglican has a severed arm from their preaching and the Muslim is put off by their actions. The Decomposed Musician

A while back I watched a YouTube video about the Victorian Era and learnt that the record player had been invented in 1887 and everyone enjoyed music in their own homes… Essentially the death of the career as a musician being a normal occupation, resulting in the career seeming unattainable to many. This mimics my opinions on art, so many artists opt to sell prints of a painting not thinking that perhaps if they didn’t offer that then buyers would look at real artworks (and prints of hand made artworks are blasphemous). I decided to paint an artwork similar to my ‘Cello’ artwork in terms of the scenery although chose to paint the cello as a pear beginning to rot, alongside rotting grapes and the slightly bloody hand and ear of a musician, plugged by the grape. By limiting musical artists ability to make money through their passion are you ‘biting the hand’ that feeds you? I enjoyed this artwork as I believe I pulled of the gore with tact. I made this painting originally thinking about rock balancing and tomatoes popped into mind. So I painted some stacked tomatoes in a pink desert. I love ox heart tomatoes so I chose those type to paint.. Originally thinking to call it Ox Heart Tomatoes and changed my mind, playing with the idea of a balanced diet, I'm never not up for a plate of ox heart tomatoes... Canvas Prints

This is an artwork I created out of despise for people purchasing canvas prints. You can see a bulldozer dumping identical canvas prints into a pit with a tree influencing that and setting it a light. Canvas prints are made of plastic and MDF, they're built to be disposable and I don't consider them art. The economy pours so much money into this fast-turning-trash and I'm not convinced it's because the consumers see meaning in these “abstract” prints of splotches. I believe canvas prints contribute considerably to the yearly trash load and play a huge part in creating a tough environment for artists to thrive. This is not one of my hand stretched artworks, nor framed, although is ready to hang. Oil based.

Bull Smudged

In 2018 I did my very first ten artworks in ten weeks challenge, something I ended up doing until the point where I could continually create and artwork a week then steps up to eventually do eighty artworks in seventy-nine days. This was a follow up on an artwork that was very well received, ‘Smudged Elephant’ and I was finding my style at the time, which didn’t end up being this style. No Women Geniuses

I read a book shortly before painting this painting, ‘Genius, The Natural History of creativity by Hans Eysenck’ and on page 127 I read this line; “Genius is only found in males (for whatever reason!). Illustrations abound. In the list of geniuses studied by Cox, (1926) there are no women.” Let’s take note of the somewhat surprise from Eysenck as if he alludes to the reason actually being gender. So I’ll take a moment to elaborate the times. Women only won women’s rights in the 60’s and I doubt it was an easy road after that, sexism is still evident deep within culture so I don’t see women in the 60’s suddenly being accepted into jobs automatically without prejudice. The book itself points out that the definition of genius requires eminence in the field of your career. Women weren’t allowed careers so there you go, mystery solved. Even though another 60 years has passed we need to take into account that’s just your grandmother, or mothers generation who fought for equal rights and I bet there were some too busy raising young children to take it seriously. So you have your generation to be the first without prejudice in obtaining a job and on your way to the definition of genius. I personally argue it’s not a fresh start as in male dominated careers women report others having the opinion they won the job just please the stats and don’t receive the same respect amongst colleagues. As I read on it seemed as if the women who were eminent such as Marie Curie or Emily Dickinson must have just been considered very good. So the prejudice doesn’t just lie in not being able to find avenues to become eminent, but then being recognised as eminent. Following that thought I decided to whip out a female Einstein. She wears his jacket and the buttons lie the way a woman’s jacket does. That subtitle on page 127 named “Gender”, seems to have a misprint as I read “Prejudice in gender”. Chocland X Rob's Synthwave

In 2021 I shared an artwork named, ’Chocland’ which sold quite fast. A few people mentioned it when I discussed what artworks to include in my next colouring in book edition. A few weeks before completing this artwork I received a commission request and the week prior I’d coincidentally shared an artwork named ‘Commission’ expressing my disinterest in commissions. So naturally I said no, however when someone requests one I ask what they saw in the original artwork and to share their views. Then I’ll make something after a little research and if they like it, it’s up for grabs. If not, we all move on. I was told that the artlover saw synthwave in the original artwork and appreciated how unique it was in terms of the description of a commonplace object. They really enjoyed the composition. Sometimes an artwork takes you somewhere else, and if that’s what this is for them then I wanted to play on that instead of conveying a concept. I had a rule, red or green sky and no pears.

If you watch the making video of this artwork you’ll see I began with green aiming to play on my recent artwork ‘Surrealists and Psychology’, then after talking to someone about this new artwork I changed it to red. That was probably a positive turn of events doing something entirely opposite to all except one artwork of mine, ‘Cheese’. Someone mentioned it’s not Synthwave without the car, I tried looking up which specific car but it seems to vary. Instead I added a reference to a car I once owned which I lined with indicators. I added the typical block sun, but dismantled. I’m personally always listening to 80’s rock instead of 80’s Synthwave and as I created the artwork I watched the Scorpions ‘Send Me an Angel’ with the red sky and square mountains so I added them as a sneaky link to a different 80’s world, with a tiny guitarist on top. I also have a few artworks synesthesia where I link shapes to sounds. During my hunt I found the beats consistent so I placed a row of cacti on the chocolate squares. Lasers that reflect the typical Synthwave blue triangle and just as I wrapped up the atrwork I learned the art lovers name so I found a reference in the Synthwave world and added it in.

Diagnosed Hypochondriac

This artwork is a sequel to the painting I shared before this one, it’s a horse representing a human seeking out a diagnosis in order to feel whole. This is the horse with its diagnosis, the horse proudly stands front and centre showing off it’s new skin. The previous artwork showed just a skeleton with cactuses in the background, this time, since I like to use cactuses to represent people this ones turned full cactus instead of regaining the horse shin showed in the previous artwork. Instead of the items in the landscape forming a slow progression to being organised this horses environment have everything perfectly in check. The rain falls perfectly across the perfectly spaced clouds and perfectly placed plants across a perfectly wavy ground. This horse is delusional, you can’t organise life so perfectly and it’s not a horse anymore. I placed a hidden bunny in the background since I was deep in the art making habit hole at this point in time. This painting is one of my 80 artworks and a challenge to keep within the time frame! Hypochondriac

I partially painted it out of annoyance that I was asking someone to be respectful and they turned the situation around on one of their collection of four mental illnesses (a well functioning human in society). I decided to paint this artwork during my 80 artworks as I began to take note of how there’s a trend to label all quirks or even human nature as a mental disorder… Hypochondria in a nut shell, although the general mass doing this don’t seem to recognise this. Since the movement to become accepting of mental illness turned into a movement to encourage it. If I really wanted to “have” a mental illness I can rely on the trusty movement and a broadening definition to psychiatrist hop until I get that Pokemon. I thought up the idea to paint a horse skeleton and one hoof, the horse brandishes the hoof as if it’s proud and the rest of the horse isn’t complete unless it wears the skin of a mental illness, “Look at this part of me, I’m such a novelty”. At this point in time I’d painted quite a few cactuses pretty well and wanted to include them as a symbol in the background. The left one flops over because you haven’t watered your garden being so distracted. The middle one stands tall hidden behind the horse and the last one is organised into tiny cactuses, evenly spaced, floating up into the air. These remind me of the environmental expression of a mental illness where your items are where they’re supposed to be and need to stay exactly as they are. The water also plays in this left to right timeline, the left needs some attention, you need to pour the water properly. The middle turns into the horses soul and evaporated then the right is well organised dripping like rain over the clouds. I began the idea of a stripped skeleton before looking up what a horse skeleton looked like and to be frank I didn’t think they’d look so odd. I’d started the concept and ran with it. Offended By Shoes

This is an artwork I decided to paint when it became clear that women are taking jabs at me for my shoes. Everyone, except Australians (with Australian backgrounds) know that Australians dress poorly. My background is Bulgarian and Bulgarians dress well. I subconsciously did what my ancestors do and dress well, despite not being raised in the country, as I grow older that involves heels. Australian women even go so far as to say to my face “It’s not normal, you’re being weird” specifically speaking about the fact that my outfit that day had been complimented with heels. It’s essentially racism without realising there’s a cultural difference going on here. I question why my shoes bother these women so much to have to insult me, so I painted them, and one day they will hang on someones wall with pride. As I painted this artwork I learnt that Mars also removed the heels off the green m&m, so I painted it under mine. This is a painting I thought of while listening to the song 'White Flag' by Dido. The main part of the painting is a sunken sail which takes the shape of a white flag not catching wind, I made it to represent a fallen relationship while the other boats sail in the clouds.
