This is an appropriation and a moment in time where I looked at my final Dali artwork. For a little while, I was receiving compliments that my work is reminiscent of that of Salvador Dali, I researched him and decided his painting “Suez” is my favourite. I then decided to appropriate it. I found the original quite funny, this is a play on that and perhaps a continual.. Both slightly comical. I then decided I didn’t want to be seen as a copycat and this was the last time I ever looked at any of his artworks. Sometimes I see them in passing and think, yeah we do share a style but I’m not subconsciously copying. Here we go again with another challenge artwork. I’ve tried this so many times and I feel like I never master it; creating a painting out of a digital artwork and vice versa. The artwork I tried to recreate is ‘Art in Desert’ but since my digital artworks are just creativity vomit and the paintings have concepts, I tied a concept to it. This time the road represents my road to success being paved with my artworks. Still on it! This painting is for all the optimists out there. When I wake up and make breakfast I see a fun day ahead, still full of work although at the same time feels like a holiday. That's why I painted the plates to sort of be a pool, the bottle to be reminiscent of a palm tree and the tiles to either be sky or a hotel. What do you choose to see? Ego
