I tend to tell people I’m annoyed with them… conflict resolution. However before creating this I thought about the people around me who have an issue with something and act like they’re all fine. Society doesn’t really allow room for people to have a mood anymore, especially with this mental health movement, despite being a human function. We seem to be expected to be corporate 24/7 and handle things in a passive aggressive manner by being polite. Sometimes the situation calls for telling people how it is and you won’t look professional, there’s a chance you may be diagnosed with a disorder by your local hairdresser and that’s how it is. It’s impossible to resolve conflict with passive aggressive people to be frank, and I genuinely wonder, when’s the tipping point? When’s the bottle going to break and overreact? Why would anyone act this way to be liked. I originally imagined up a more detailed artwork but as I continued to create it, that didn’t fit the concept… Outside the bottle (their mind) everything’s calm, quiet, nothing is out of place. Inside the bottle, nothing looks comfortable. In the words of Pauline Hanson… “I don’t like it”. In the background, a broken bottle that made a cloud. As I watched an astrology lecture I noticed one of the astrologers who’s opinion I respect mention “magic”. At first I thought he was joking then I realised, no, this person genuinely believes in magic. Down the magic rabbit hole I went and learnt that there’s a whole community that believe in magic. Respectable people. Listening to how they came to make sense of it made sense to me and up it’s to this artwork description reader to learn for themselves. However the gist is these people are manipulating the luck they have at hand, not working spells to be billionaires that we’d all assume. I continue this train of thought in a different artwork, however this idea pivots in comparison to the other. During my rabbit hole hunt I came across a story about a well respected psychologist(?) who had the chance to speak somewhere. He picked someone from the audience to take his jacket and he’ll give them $10. Gladly they did. Until he told them a murderer owned this jacket. How can you entirely dismiss magic yet believe a jacket is tainted because a murderer owned it. Perhaps some people are more in tune, a sentence that comes up often. I painted the jacket in the forefront, and each pear representing people front and centre, however the more in tune pear had a mini world swirling around it. Perhaps this could be the most interesting still life image you’ll see today. If you can call it still life. I decided to create this digital artwork to communicate a more surreal and artistic representation of cockatoos, somewhat referencing the repetition from Magritte's Golconda but also reminds me of a level on Yoshi's Island. I've also started sitting moon balloons on clouds in a yellow shade, like eggs.

This painting is a sequel to my painting 'Priorities' which is a pineapple pyramid (sold). The original idea came from the Pharaohs pyramids crossed with witnessing how people around me would spend money on unhealthy items for instant gratification then sulk about the repercussions.. rinse and repeat. So instead of making a painting of a pyramid symbolising the possessions and status I painted a cubist fruit to represent investing in your heath as opposed to things that don't actually contribute to your life in a positive way. In this painting I painted strawberry print for the first time and also included flamingos with peacock tails (the ultimate show-off bird), The strawberries leaves become wings or vice versa and this painting is one where I experimented with depth by blurring the background. I made this painting right after my Apple Tree painting and decided to carry on the idea of a pear shape which resembles the back of a woman’s head, also having so many paintings that feature one item in the centre I wanted to break away from a style I'd made for myself and feature repetition instead. This is a painting I created with the idea in mind to make a floating fruit bowl wrapped in a white cloth. I called it Cigarette for Breakfast because it doesn't resemble nutrients or fruit at all, the white colour cloth is emptiness like when you ask someone what they had for breakfast and they tell you a cigarette... I've been super pear focused lately, probably because I've been making more artworks in a shorter space of time and the topics of each merge together. So I made another pear! I wanted to follow up on the style of my recent 'Spotty Pig' as I noticed quite a few people saved that one.I almost left this artwork just as a spotty pear although right before I thought I finished I watched a Bosch documentary which caused me to think twice about leaving it simple. So I added a cage and an ear. After finishing it, it reminded me of listening.. how there's sound around you and sometimes you ignore the sounds and sometimes you absorb them and contemplate. This is a painting I made based on the concept of primary colours, where you can mix yellow, blue and red in any combination along with the shades black and white to make any colour. I went through a mini phase in 2020 trying to improve my cooking and thought why can't making flavours be like making colours? Why can't we assign sour sweet ect. In order to make it clear what goes “well” together. The painting is a skewer of a lemon (yellow/ sour), blueberry (blue/ sweet) and chilli (red/ spicy) dripping down their colours where the drips mix to form a watermelon which floats to the surface, in the background are oranges and cucumbers already formed. This painting warrants a second thought after I show off my painting “Cheese”, one I made a few weeks later after learning something about my brain and flavours. This is a painting inspired by an event, Uranus transiting my 7th house, where you tend to shake off relationships that aren't working. I had some people from a past life lure their way back in only to notice the same patterns started before I'd even seen them. The lake has spikes, I imagine how uncomfortable that lake would be to swim in.. spiky water which is fenced off, a barrier. I've painted a hand (mine) stretching down from the sky dipping it's finger in the water through the fence, expressing how much of a stretch it would be for me to actually give that lake any real attention. This is a painting of a pear with a cow hide skin growing from a hand shaped tree with sparkles on it, the inside of the pear has a ladder and birds flying from it. I had this canvas sitting waiting to be started and I just decided that I wanted to paint a pear with a cow hide skin in a dim setting, I had no intention with meaning behind it, so like a viewer seeing the painting for the first time I decided what it meant for me after I completed it. I’m a big fan of cow hides, using the whole cow. I have a few and to me they’re a medal, like when you make one the star of you’re home you’re showing off the sacrifices the cow made throughout it’s life, I painted (and own) holstein cow hides which is the cow that produces milk, so the idea of how many babies and people in general that cow gave it’s nutrients to and the hard work comes to mind when I wonder about a life it would have had. Pears in my paintings also play along with the metaphor when people say something went “pear shaped”. So I personally see it that the pear is the life/home I’m building through my hand crafted career. Oil Based, signed with a certificate of authenticity and ready to hang.

I felt like making another fruit bowl painting although with a cow hide skin instead of fruit skin, I thought about having one fruit cut open although that idea's probably going to be for a sequel painting. I call it vegan, I'm not the biggest fan of vegan diets so I guess this is my expression that there's no substitute for meat. Can be taken lightly as a metaphor for tofu and how vegans transform it into all the flavours. I created this painting based on a digital artwork I created a few weeks prior which was incredibly well received. Knowing that from the past when I paint a digital artwork it doesn’t quite measure up, so this time I painted a different angle and with a new style using harsher gradients which I think made it unique. I call it “Traveller” because when I first looked at it after I'd painted the people in I saw a journey, like one where you travel over seas and other countries look, feel and smell as foreign as a pineapple blowing up to a hot air balloon. Floating on a crossing as if the visit is a dream. Whenever I explain how Bulgaria is to Australians I don't think they ever fully understand how different it is unless they experience going there. This painting is a pineapple growing from the ground (like a carrot) taking the shape of a Pyramid, like the ones in Egypt. I thought of the idea that Pharoahs would bury their possesions with them and then created a visual metaphor for the lack of priorities today. I'm noticing that people would rather spend their money on having an unhealthy desert or an experience without considering how putting the money to something less self-sabotaging could make them just as happy. Building their own pyramid of treasures, not fruit. I made this digital artwork based on the idea I'd have a pear pouring juice into a cup... that didn't workout and I ended up making pear balloons from a door etched into a cliff. I couldn't decide whether it sits with the door on the floor or in the side.

In the concept of this artwork I took the saying of things turning “pear shaped” literally. My intention is for the pears to express how the journey of each small progress in my career goes pear shaped so often, but each obstacle in each of those tiny goals is a learning curve that I needed. So I pelt the pears at the ladder. The painting was then followed up by a sequel, they're sold together. The sequel is the ladder being dinged around by the pears and the climb continues.
