The Pyramid Mystery

I recently entered the pyramid rabbit hole, long story short, these are not tombs. It began as I find other peoples point of view interesting so I let conspiracy theories (or just regular theories that the mainstream labels to lower their credibility) enter my YouTube feeds and I think it included a mix of my electronics searches because I came across a pyramid generator theory by Chris Dunn. The entire topic is fascinating and has merit so I don’t think my painting reflects all the ideas I came across but I wanted to paint something pyramid. One point that I want to share, through art, is that we seem to under the mainstream impression that Egypt has always been a desert but there’s water erosion marks all over the Sphinx. Water plays a big part in a lot of the science explaining alternate histories. The pyramids generator theory is pretty complicated but I started the painting when learning about the aquifers part of the theory which is the very beginning of the generator theory, so I painted the pyramid of water. I also wanted to reflect two older artworks named, ‘Priorities’ and ‘Priorities 2’. The artwork wasn’t very planned out but as I continued to paint I put in plenty of effort into the spikes, also referencing my recent artwork ‘Thinking Things Up’ I learnt about the mystery of the tunnels that lead under the Sphinx so I added those into it. At some point I wanted to add more, then another point I decided to keep it simple and make more artworks to share the ideas. Waiting for the Rain to End

This is a painting I created with the idea to paint the feeling of waiting for the rain to end. I also wanted to create something well executed like a painting I'd made a couple weeks earlier 'Midnight Snack'. By the end of the painting I'd started reading a book on Magritte and found his work a tad sloppy so I felt compelled to work harder on making sure the painting had been polished off. Pears (and cactuses) feature as metaphors for people in my paintings and these pairs wait under a sheet of water acting as a jail by the growing stems and birds emerge from the water since they just live in the water when it rains. This year I'm more against consumerism than usual, my new years resolution is to save as many items from council cleanup as bags of rubbish I throw out. Since then I've realised that most of my trash is actually re-usable in some form (compost, local scrap metal, recycling centre). Which then translated to preferring second hand items and watching how people shop as a hobby. I painted the taps to represent the unlimited amount of items someone can buy and decided to create the first tap a human statue tap but painted the man upset and bombarded by the other taps. No Time

This painting is one of the eleven/twelve that I tried painting in a week, most of them made the deadline and this is the first one I'm showing off from that adventure. Since I have no grasp on time this is another painting I used to express my feelings on time. On my list I originally planned to paint the painting with the clock hands outward like a books pages flipping through the wind, instead as I created it I decided to have them floating throughout the artwork, each hand is a person since we all interpret time at a difference pace (literally, that's a fact) some of the handles are bogged down by sheets of water that I like to paint. I's started painting an egg although when I came back to the painting after my other eleven I couldn't remember why so I ended up turning it into a silhouette of me from the back. It's a coincidence that XII sits above that (my birthday date). I chose to paint the numbers as birds since birds are also hard to get a grip on. Powerful

This painting is of a hammer floating in shallow waters while clouds steam from it's head. I thought I'd play with the idea that power isn't a real thing, indeviduals can feel powerful and act accordingly although only when they're surrounded with sheep-like personaltiies, the buoyancy of the water. Not necessarily a fact when it comes to the reality of placing a hammer in water. While painting a previous painting Michael Jackson came on the radio and with the general “politically correct” vibe of western societies right now an idea came to mind to paint a spiky lake that would feel very uncomfortable to swim in. I don't believe it's politically correct to go around correcting people who've been brought up in a way that their language isn't used in an offensive manner. I painted the lake as it is because it feels like people are silenced very quickly, the swim is too spiky. I also painted the fence around it because there's no standing up for yourself with these people and I attached moons to the fence because in astrology the moon represents emotions. Since being politically correct is a great outlet to project your own grievances on others. Things You Think You Own

This is an artwork I decided to paint after the thought crossed my mind that no one actually owns anything, if you have a pet bird the only reasons you believe you own it is because you either formed a bond or it’s stuck in a cage. The same principle could be applied to other humans, if you’re in any type of relationship with someone you can’t claim you own them because society has labelled that action as anti-social. You don’t own anyone, you’ve formed a bond to keep them around or they’re being held hostage. On that idea I painted a bird carrying a pear with a barcode print on them. The concept of not actually owning anything seems harder to grasp with inanimate objects such as a pear, you don’t own a pear either, you tell people it’s yours and out of respect, inconvenience or fear they don’t take it from you. Waking Up

This is a painting I decided to paint in reference to two other artworks, ‘Midnight Snack’ and ‘Dreaming of Tidal Waves’. I enjoy painting in that style and felt like painting a dark artwork having ventured into difference styles recently. I intended on painting some form of dreaming and as I tried to paint through sleep (I’d been creating ten artworks that week) I repeatedly woke from mini-almost naps with new ideas for this artwork. Unfortunately I didn’t allow myself enough time to include all the ideas (they’re included in my YouTube artventure video though) although I do believe I managed to reach an entry level representation of waking up. I painted the clear sheet of water as the feeling of moving from sleep to wake and the deep thick, non-transparent water as the sleep. I originally planned to include my pineapple hot air balloon from other artworks although that didn’t work out so I lead the rope to nowhere. The boats tumble (your dreams) as the clear water flows over. This artwork is one of my hand-stretched ones, sold with hooks ready to hang and a certificate of authenticity.

This is a painting I created with a similar idea in mind to a digital artwork I created after the Christchurch shooting where the countries blood stain a top. I'd included all the countries in the digital artwork although this time wanted to emphasise the diversity of the countries. I'm often watching geography and history videos and a student recently asked me if the war with Ukraine would start WWIII. Without knowing the history of all the wars of the world it would seem that way but when you look up the history of each country there's usually a war included. So I painted it as if this is the load of washing you've done and you've hung it out to dry, to stay that way. I also tried to include an aspect I included in an older painting, 'The Essence of Freedom' where the flowers represents birds enjoying freedom. This time the wing is also hung out to dry. Entering the Desert

I made this painting based on a digital artwork I created a couple years back in terms of layout, creating it revolved more around the time frame I gave myself and just creating it so I didn't have a concept in mind. I had to name it so I based the name on another painting I recently finished which also has a floating crossing, as if they're connected and this is the day time version. I ended up really focusing on the texture of the floor because I told insta that they can decide when I start painting a different section.. No one opted for me to move on so it ended up really detailed; that taught me that I can do better. It's up to the viewer to interpret how they see it. Soaring, Swimming and Sleeping

This is a painting that I created in order to challenge myself to use a smaller canvas, I'm not an artist who uses small centrepieces (or none) so this certainly proved to be a challenge. I also used leftover canvas from my last roll which is more coarse which doesn't let me work on detail as smoothly as I'd like so when I finished the artwork I feel like it turned out pretty well considering the situation I put myself in! I painted a bird and wanted to carry on the style from a painting a few paintings ago 'Midnight Snack' with solid waves and tiny bubbles/ balloons. This time I couldn't decide whether the bird would be swimming, flying or dreaming. I figure you're doing it all in a dream anyway so it's doing it all in a dreamlike artwork.
