This is one of the 80 artworks and before creating it I hunted down some ideas, I didn’t find any however an entirely unrelated video came up on my YouTube and the background of this lecture was a projection of a mosaic window. I thought it looked great and decided to tackle creating one in a digital artwork. It took a while to achieve this look, and a tricky venture for Photoshop! The doughnuts link from two other artworks, ‘Doughnut Town’ and ‘Ice Cream Town’.

I'm definitely a fan of throwing shade at décor and mass produced (that mimics a hand crafted artwork) art, décor art has made it incredibly difficult for artists to thrive in a modern society. So when I make an artwork that's décor, I'm actually mocking it and therefore not décor anymore. So here's my décor artwork of a fruit bowl.

Wave Hole

This is a digital artwork I created during my lockdown challenge out of previous artworks and photographs I've taken. I wanted to show a wave appearing from a trapdoor being pulled up by a pineapple hot air balloon with doughnut floaties, seems pretty close.

Car Crash

This is a digital artwork created in Photoshop from photos of my car and various landscapes. I turned it into a hot air balloon as if it's trying to stop before hitting the spiky wall.

Pear House

I decided to create this as I like it when people create mini worlds and turn regular objects into homes. This is often done with a shoe. I wanted to create a different mini world floating on a cloud similar to my ‘Doughnut Town’, ‘Ice Cream Town’ and some other upcoming artworks you’ll see eventually. It didn’t turn out as expected due to the resolution of the photos I could use, although pretty close!

Ice Cream Lineup

This is another artwork from my October Challenge and a follow up idea from my ‘Ice Cream Town’, a mix of my ‘Chocolate Ice-car’ and ‘Snake Flavour Please’ where I decided I needed to create different ice cream flavours as I like the idea of seeing an ice cream although having the actual ice cream another object, unexpected and confusing.

Cloud Vomit

This is an artwork I created early on in my October Challenge and the idea popped into mind right after finishing a recent digital artwork, ‘How Rainbows Are Made’, I wanted to continue the idea of the cloud spitting out colours yet entirely focus on that as the artwork on its own.

Sweet Tooth

This is a digital artwork I decided to create without worrying about whether it were too outrageous for people to actually own, just a super sweet artwork. I created the idea based on my 'Beet Pop' artwork with zoo animals instead. I included coloured glass falling from the sky to add to the sweetness and a slightly more vibrant version of my pineapple hot air balloon from older digital artworks.

Stairs

This is a digital artwork I created partly using Blender and Photoshop, I had a much more intricate idea in mind although this is how the stairs ended up (mostly hidden under water anyway) and I'm pleased with it.

Bicycle Illusion

This is a lockdown challenge artwork and one of the first where I start playing with illusions, I stretched the bicycle so that if the viewer covers the top half then they'll be left with an image which renders them assuming that the bicycle is normal sized and close up. Yet if they cover the bottom they'll think it's giant and far away.When the image is printed the viewer should be left bouncing from the top to the bottom making sense of where the bicycle stands.

Stranger

This idea came to mind a few months ago after a guy who was learning to be a journalist asked me for an interview, I eventually asked for it to be removed from everywhere. After pondering on this idea for a while I began to realise that most, if not all the people in my life don't really or entirely know me. Some had been in my life the entire time and couldn't even tell you my pass times, other's I had just met and after a few meetings they still hadn't figured out I'm an artist (which is what my life revolves around). Imagine every second of your life is written in a book, the book grows each day and someone comes along and rips out a few paragraphs and runs off as if they've figured you out 100%. That's what I've painted here, the person runs off and in the background flails the page into the wind as birds pick off the words and leave them scattered. No one ever truly knows you and no one ever will. This artwork is one of my hand-stretched ones, although always sold with hooks ready to hang and a certificate of authenticity!

Round and Brown

A while back I purchased a date, banana and coconut juice, my mates asked me what it tasted like and I told them “round and brown”, synaesthesia Usually I'd get a response something along the lines of being called weird.. and I'd learnt to brush it off, recently learning that it's the way my brain connects senses. When I taste food a visual composition accompanies it. When I tasted the banana, date and coconut juice I'd see a clear and matte white sphere floating around with a cool breezy environment, I'd also see a shade of brown emerge on the side that's faded away on the sphere. So this is that composition that I see in my minds eye, only more detailed as if it were a landscape. Hand stretched, sold with a certificate of authenticity and hooks ready to hang!
