In this artwork I play with psychology and gentrification. As I opened Saatchiart to upload one of my artworks another “artwork” caught my attention. This was priced at $20K+, so I clicked onto the artwork to see what majestic concept the “artist” aimed to channel. None. The listing literally said ‘décor’. I’m offended. So offended turned my offence into an artwork. ‘Simulation theory’ then kicks in and I happened to stumble across a massive canvas to repurpose for this concept. I decided to genuinely show off my talent in this piece although price it stupidly high on the online galleries and have no description, to give the impression it’s décor. I’m assuming the gallery will place it in a nice position since they’ll make a huge commission, I aim for the viewers to question the price. Leading them to see my other artworks and seeing a huge discrepancy. I wonder if the viewers will then look up my name and see this description on my own website to see I’m mocking the gentrification of décor artists and have a real description and appropriate price here (according to my level of fame). The game here is if someone ends up buying it direct, they win the game… If they go through a gallery without finding the true meaning of the artwork, I win the game. I risk being kicked off the online galleries with this artwork although that’s part of the statement I’m making. I tried painting this in 9 days although finished it in ten, because of the timeline I gave myself there’s definitely some tiny parts where I could have calculated the paint drying better so there are a few touch-ups which don’t reflect my aim to entirely show off my talent… The items in the artwork aren’t meant to have meaning however I definitely painted it with a story in mind, that’s just the way it worked out. Coffee With the Birds

I decided to create this artwork as cockatoos sometimes visit me and genuinely watch me colour in… I like to think they know they’re in some of my artworks. I tend to have a coffee when colouring in (I have a colouring in book series you should check out) so this artwork is coffee with the birds. Something I’m not doing intentionally is when I’m given instructions I tend to take the instructions as is but give it a creative twist. So if you wanted me to give you an image of coffee with birds, this is what you get.

Chessboard

Since creating my fluffy lego pieces I also wanted to merge that idea with a seperate idea to create a chessboard using the photos that I turned into statues for the artwork ‘Grabbing Art Supplies’. I came across a challenge in this artwork as with photo editing the angle of the photo is what you have to work with.

This is a digital artwork I created during the beginning of my October challenge and really wanted to utilise my new jar photo and also the theme I’d recently been following with using tiny objects (since my computer’s now upgraded and can handle my ideas). I also saw an artwork from the MCA of a red room and wanted to create a glass outdoor room after seeing this. While creating this a client rang and asked how I think of these ideas, so that’s what I named it.

I painted a Dali appropriation a while ago on his painting 'Suez' which I found really funny (I don't look at his artworks anymore though, people compare my art to his and would like to not be influenced by them). That appropriation hangs in my living room and decided to create a digital artwork based on the shape of the ground. I decided to include the pears from past artworks as I wanted them to float between the wall water as if they're portals.

I decided to paint a self portrait since I happen to be whipping them out every few years, this time I didn't paint it as a mid-shot front on artwork but a reflection of how I've spent my 20's. Painting until I drop at the easel. Painting the look of gold (without using gold) is a challenge I've been working on lately and my home is gold themed so I tackled that in this painting as well, turning the furniture gold. I still don't think I've figured it out so I guess it's also a reflection of how much progress I'd made with gold by this age. I recently had to update my website and all my digital artworks into metal prints which meant hours of looking at my artworks then when moving onto another activity it felt like I'd left another world so I painted the feeling. Running Wild with Still Life

I find still life an interesting topic of art, it’s mostly hit or miss and I’m yet to find one in-between. A while back I painted a few satire artworks on still life and vases (‘Vases for Decor Purposes’ or ‘Fruit Bowl’, I think it’s fun to play with the genre so I began this artwork ready to paint some very detailed still life and then ended up wanting to add movement with a parade of horses running through, they swim out of the still life and dive back into it. For some of the artwork I wanted to focus on depth and on other days I wanted to make the shadows not make sense. So this is the result of this still life artwork. I hope it’s a hit for you. Waiting for the Rain to End

This is a painting I created with the idea to paint the feeling of waiting for the rain to end. I also wanted to create something well executed like a painting I'd made a couple weeks earlier 'Midnight Snack'. By the end of the painting I'd started reading a book on Magritte and found his work a tad sloppy so I felt compelled to work harder on making sure the painting had been polished off. Pears (and cactuses) feature as metaphors for people in my paintings and these pairs wait under a sheet of water acting as a jail by the growing stems and birds emerge from the water since they just live in the water when it rains. I began this artwork with a different idea in mind, then by the time I’d finished creating my 2023 colouring in books I wasn’t passionate about the concept anymore so decided to ditch it. From there I began painting a pear as if it’s being dispensed and squished it’s predecessor, since I’m always making a point about consumerism that’s where I went. After a day I changed the layout and kept the idea although this time the pears drip out from a window and bounce over a more realistic rotten looking pear below. The Journey

I really enjoy Hieronymus Bosch’s artworks, specifically how they his artworks encompass busy themes where Bosch packs in plenty of characters and ‘furniture’. A while back I noticed my artworks at the time had a centrepiece and that’s how I conveyed my idea. I’ve been working on creating busier visuals where the viewer will be drawn into the artwork thinking about each section and wonder away with that thought, creating a different experience. This artwork isn’t as busy as I originally aimed however when I reached this point I decided this is how it needs to be. On the left side I added more characters than the right as I want people to read the artwork like a book, left to right. I ended up naming it ‘The Journey’ because when I reached the end of the artwork whenever I looked at it I felt like it’s a journey, like your life journey. Nothing ever seems to go as planned and when you look back at it you end up with a bunch of mismatched and unexpected events that feel like home because it’s yours and you lived that. Pendulum Trance

I recently joined TikTok to share my art and a video of another creator came up where the person bragged how “this painting hasn’t sold yet” and a painting is all it seemed to be to me. In 1844 Hugh Blackburn created the pendulum painting where paint drips onto a canvas as a swinging pendulum and as the paint runs out the loops become smaller in diameter. Definitely a great concept playing with physics although fast forward a few centuries people are replicating this for the sake of replicating it and becoming sell outs. It brings me down along with the standard of art people are being sold, so I painted my own take. Pears sometimes represent people in my artworks so I painted pears in the shape of a spiral on their way out the window, commenting on the repeated process and how it may still put the viewer in a trance, no matter how many times it’s been done. The Pear Shop

While you look at this artwork I have a pear shop, this pear shop only exists when you look at the artwork. This pear shop has some rules though, there are only four pears and it began with all the pears being uncensored. When you visit the shop you decide what flavour you want and if you taste another flavour you may censor it and leave it behind for the next person. However the next person won’t know what they’re missing out on.

This is a continuation on my previous artwork, ‘Idiot, Nigger, Genius’ yet less specific and a different take. Same idea though. I find it outrageous how sensitive the western culture is right now that I can’t say anything, ever. All my sentences must be pre-screened and deeply analysed should the rare event arise where someone decides I’ve been offensive then decides I’m prejudice and in-prisons me for the death penalty. We are robbing our future generations of knowing our culture. Another artwork I made, ‘Negro with Parrots and Monkeys Censored’ shows an appropriation of an artwork from the 18th century, ‘Negro with Parrots and Monkeys’, censored. I looked up this artwork in detail and I originally found it in an art book purchased in the 2000’s. However the internet has changed the artworks name to “Boy with Parrots and Monkeys”… Disgusting! If the future internet decides to censor the word pear in 200 years I’d be outraged. No artist ever made an artwork with intent for the public to change it. Censorship doesn’t belong in the art world, it should strictly stick to G rated TV shows in my opinion. Still Still Life

When looking at still life artworks I enjoy them however the fact that you can do so much more with a bowl of fruit and drink always crosses my mind. Really make the viewer think about what’s going on there. I also really like how still life ages and it’s atypical to see aged fruit in a still life artwork, there’s a beauty in aged fruit, especially rotting fruit when you see the brown start to show. I decided to paint my still life artwork in motion, as if something happened (I wont throw suggestions as to what, that’s up to you) that caused the still life arrangement to go flying around the canvas. I tried to paint off milk here however I never come across off milk so that’s my best attempt at this time in my life. As a surrealist I also enjoy painting items in the wrong colours. Even though the contents of this artwork are aged and moving around, it’s still, still life. Bottled Up

I tend to tell people I’m annoyed with them… conflict resolution. However before creating this I thought about the people around me who have an issue with something and act like they’re all fine. Society doesn’t really allow room for people to have a mood anymore, especially with this mental health movement, despite being a human function. We seem to be expected to be corporate 24/7 and handle things in a passive aggressive manner by being polite. Sometimes the situation calls for telling people how it is and you won’t look professional, there’s a chance you may be diagnosed with a disorder by your local hairdresser and that’s how it is. It’s impossible to resolve conflict with passive aggressive people to be frank, and I genuinely wonder, when’s the tipping point? When’s the bottle going to break and overreact? Why would anyone act this way to be liked. I originally imagined up a more detailed artwork but as I continued to create it, that didn’t fit the concept… Outside the bottle (their mind) everything’s calm, quiet, nothing is out of place. Inside the bottle, nothing looks comfortable. In the words of Pauline Hanson… “I don’t like it”. In the background, a broken bottle that made a cloud. No Magic

As I watched an astrology lecture I noticed one of the astrologers who’s opinion I respect mention “magic”. At first I thought he was joking then I realised, no, this person genuinely believes in magic. Down the magic rabbit hole I went and learnt that there’s a whole community that believe in magic. Respectable people. Listening to how they came to make sense of it made sense to me and up it’s to this artwork description reader to learn for themselves. However the gist is these people are manipulating the luck they have at hand, not working spells to be billionaires that we’d all assume. I continue this train of thought in a different artwork, however this idea pivots in comparison to the other. During my rabbit hole hunt I came across a story about a well respected psychologist(?) who had the chance to speak somewhere. He picked someone from the audience to take his jacket and he’ll give them $10. Gladly they did. Until he told them a murderer owned this jacket. How can you entirely dismiss magic yet believe a jacket is tainted because a murderer owned it. Perhaps some people are more in tune, a sentence that comes up often. I painted the jacket in the forefront, and each pear representing people front and centre, however the more in tune pear had a mini world swirling around it. Perhaps this could be the most interesting still life image you’ll see today. If you can call it still life. Nothing in the Desert

I made this painting right after my Apple Tree painting and decided to carry on the idea of a pear shape which resembles the back of a woman’s head, also having so many paintings that feature one item in the centre I wanted to break away from a style I'd made for myself and feature repetition instead. This is a painting I created with the idea in mind to make a floating fruit bowl wrapped in a white cloth. I called it Cigarette for Breakfast because it doesn't resemble nutrients or fruit at all, the white colour cloth is emptiness like when you ask someone what they had for breakfast and they tell you a cigarette...
