This is a follow up from the artwork before this, ‘The Tree’ where I also continued on an idea from the artwork before that with springs, so this time I wanted to make an artwork with spring leaves all around. Half way through creating it I decided to attach them to my motorcycle, in motion.

Doughsplosion

I decided to create another digital artwork with a doughnut in it since I haven’t created one in a while. While creating it I decided on a new idea, somewhat inspired by my ‘Raffe Popper’, but different and include the springs I’d just created using Blender. This artwork achieves something I’ve always wanted to show, movement so I really like the outcome.

This is the final digital artwork of my 80 artworks project! So I decided to create a giraffe as a party popper. This idea was sparked by my ‘Doughnut Town’ and in the future I continue these tiny things in digital artworks. This is still my favourite of them.

Moon Boss

I decided to create this artwork during my 80 artworks challenge and in my surroundings sat my painting ‘Watching the Boats Sail Past’ which shows a bunch of boats which are doughnuts. I’ve tried plenty of times in the past to either paint a digital artwork or digitally create a painting and they never work out, the two genres are different. So here I am trying again! This ended up entirely different yet they both look good enough for me to feature though doughnut boats again. They still don’t cross over, I just now have two entirely different styles of doughbots, I’m not sure if this is the most successful attempt to cross over the genres either. The final artwork reminds me of a video game and the boss is a moon. Check out the art venture video of this one, there’s more documented on the making there.

Raining Laser Fruit

This is a digital artwork I created out of curiosity in what it would look like raining laser fruit. I also wanted to create something using the big wave, a night time scene and my fruit images. This was the final result which soon turns into another artwork.

Car in a Car

I wanted to create a car in a car while working on my 80 artworks project as something unique although now that some time has passed and I’m recording the artwork in my spreadsheet, this was probably a subconscious continuation from my ‘Road Trip’ artwork and a variation of ‘Car Stack’ from many years ago. Since I decided to create a night digital artwork it definitely turned out a tad different to what I expected!

Alpaca's Calling

This is an artwork I created during my 80 artworks and the idea came from two previous ideas. One being ‘Alpaca Wall’ and the other ‘Camouflage Partyraffant’. I’ve always appreciated the transparency of the wall in ‘Camouflage Partyraffant’ and tried to replicate it quite a few times. 

While creating the artwork I wanted to channel some dreamy vibes, the window’s calling.

Smokey Bird

This is one of my 80 artworks and when I began it I thought I’d quickly wrap the bird in leaves although that wasn’t quick and it didn’t look good (I recommend watching the time lapse for this one) I then changed my mind on what I wanted to create and at the time I thought the concept of turning the bird into half smoke would be too simple. After creating it I decided this artwork took a very good turn.

Pear Recreation

The impression that I have where the two don’t swap very well still stands as the painting is much more capturing than this version.

Watermelon Boat

I created this artwork from some elements I'd previously used/ created from scratch in other artworks. The long giraffe neck had been sampled from my 'Long Neck' artwork and the watermelon had originally been used prior and then while creating this I decided to start from scratch to really make is as perfectly round as possible.

This is one of my twenty-one artworks in twenty-one days which turned into eight artworks in eight hours. Recently I created my artwork ‘Coffee on the Table’ which I really like since it looks realistic with my edited photos in it. I somewhat followed the same idea but instead of a road over the mountains I just used the paint from the road (also used in older recent). The landscape was taken from a plane.

This is another one of my twenty-one artworks in twenty-one days. Similar to my ‘Elephant 2’ artwork I wanted to recreate an older artwork, ‘Bike Twist’ in a way that I would today. This is the result. While creating it I came across the challenge of making it twist, comparing with the older screen recording, and my approach this time was entirely different to the way I originally did it.

Car Sandwich

Recently I made twenty-one artworks in twenty-one days and on the final day I needed to create seven digital artworks in seven hours, then I added one more because I rage quit on a painting and this is that final one. It was pretty early the next day (still counts as the previous day though!) so I only spent 35 minutes on this. I went in with the idea to make a car sandwich of cloud buns. It’s pretty tough making art at 5am so I couldn’t make it very complicated. I also wanted to make the sky red… A while back I was asked to make a painting with a red sky, and I did and every now and then I think about how a red sky could be used and work. This now makes it eight artworks in seven and a half hours.

Car in the Sky

This is one of my seven artworks in seven hours and in the screen recording you’ll see I began with a long exposure photo I took of my beetle then decided to ditch the idea because I won’t make the goal and decided to use the background created for that potential artwork and took the car I used for ‘Beet Wall’ then this is the result.

Bike Jumping Bike

In 2018 I took a photograph of my bike at Bobbin Head and manipulated it to look as it does, ‘Bike Bobbin’. I wanted to recreate the artwork but change it to have two bikes crashing in the air, perhaps use the bikes from ‘Motorcloud’ and ‘Cloudcycle’. Instead I didn’t as I decided to complete 7 artworks in 7 hours, which soon became 8 artworks in 8 hours and this was the result. A tad rushed.

Giraffe with Coffee

This is an artwork I thought up while creating the previous digital artwork where I’d use a tool in Photoshop to smudge the colours of all the layers and add saturation to create a 60’s style colour mess. Now that I’m using Affinity Photo I needed to recreate this but without the tool but figure out how to make the pixels do that myself. This was successful and that’s the pattern you see behind the zebra stripes. Alongside that I wanted to add a wild mane and coffee pouring in a really straight fashion. The artwork turned out very close to what I imagined, goal accomplished!

When creating this artwork I decided I wanted to make some thug birds. This is them. My friend has an inside joke where she calls all cockatoo’s ‘Collin’ following a story where she had a baby the same time as some resident cockatoos. Every time I hear the name though I think of a lad. So this title felt fitting.

During an adventure to the PIX exhibition I saw a photograph of a car, I’m not sure if the tyres were white walls or actually glowing, it’s a black and white photo I only briefly looked at but I liked the idea. So I began working on a digital artwork where the tyres would glow and that’s the only goal. This artwork ended up going through a couple transformations and it may be worth watching the making of it.

Trump Hourglass

This kitten in this artwork is a photo I took of a kitten I once fostered and named ‘Trump’. Lately I’ve wanted to use photos from older artworks and fix them up so I can re-use the item in new artworks. For this one I took Trump from my artwork, ‘Trump Blanket’ and really like the concept of that artwork but it’s hard to top. Instead this is the outcome, I still wanted to create something surreal and instead of putting her in bubbles I decided to have a go at creating an hourglass.

This is an artwork I thought up while colouring in a doughnut page in my colouring in book series and decided I want to make a doughnut with loads of tiny giraffe sprinkles. From there I wanted to create an artwork where some of the main object is cut out, like a mid shot. As I created the doughnut I wanted a new doughnut since I’ve used it so much and rendered up a new one then when importing it into Photoshop from Blender I couldn’t decide what colour to make it, then I ended up wanting to make it look electric, like my ‘Hippy Hippo’ artwork. This is the final result.

This is a digital artwork I tried to tackle a couple weeks earlier although entirely ditched my plan and created another bicycle artwork (which turned out pretty nice!). I thought before I take it off my to-do list that I should try again, this is almost what I'd aimed to create except my imagination only included the top bicycle from the side view. I included the top view because I couldn't decide which image to use.

This is one of my 80 artworks and I began this idea with the intent of capturing movement within a painting after looking at Wyndham Lewis’s artwork ‘A Battery Shelled’ and seeing the movement there. The artwork took a plot twist when I looked at the painting image again in daylight and thought I was looking at something entirely different. I continued creating a response to what I thought I saw. I aimed to paint a running statue catching a ball which then turned into a statue hand throwing it and I aimed for the other parts of the artwork to appear as if they’re mid motion.

The artwork isn’t one of my favourites as it looks very different to my other paintings so I’m ‘on the fence’ with this one. Since I made it in October and months have passed before putting it up for sale I’m growing a liking to the result. Infamy's Profit Margin

This artwork is a thought chain reaction when watching the ‘Estranged’ Guns N’ Roses music video. I noticed Axl Rose is wearing a Manson top, then I looked at the timeline of Manson’s peak infamy, the music video date and so on. Manson also had an interest in music and on ‘The Spaghetti Incident’ GN’R made a cover. They copped criticism for this revolving around the topics of how could Axl Rose wear the Manson top, then on top of that do a cover, the critics believed it’s making Mansons crimes look like an inviting thing to do, if very talented rock stars then wear your face. I don’t really see it that way, the Manson face logo is aesthetically pleasing and as someone who’s been a designer in the past, it’s clear that Axl Rose didn’t commission the top, it already existed. The song also already existed and GN’R is known to do covers in general. Then I continued that train of thought, since the design already existed then someone was already profiting off Manson’s crimes… without the criticism. I continued to think and came to the conclusion that the moment a crime is committed, someone who isn’t the criminal begins to profit, starting with the government agent that responds to the crime, then the next of kin if there’s any assets, then the journalists that choose to report on it, then the news outlets, the channels that news outlets pay to have advertising on, the assistant that gets some CEO’s coffee and all the way down to the people dabbling in LawTube. When you dive this far into the rabbit hole, how does it make sense to vilify a rock band? Everyones guilty. The artwork shows Manson’s logo made of spaghetti, referencing ‘The Spaghetti Incident’, and hands eating from it… since everyones taking a bite. When the artwork sells, I’ll grab my slice of the spaghetti pie and add to the list of horrible people profiting off Manson’s crimes. This is one of my 80 artworks and I wanted to create something that has my style and also similar to ‘Midnight Snack’, I believe I aced that part of my goal. I also wanted to paint this artwork as I’m often using banana’s in my artworks yet I can’t eat them. They’re just a novelty for me. I like to paint banana’s in a cubist way and off coloured so now when I see this shape I just see the fruit. The rest of the scene is just playful, I wanted them to be sliding down a slide and have birds also interacting. That Time I Ate French

This is a painting of my interpretation of my experience eating out at French, specifically the desert, a pear, swimming in red sauce. If you watch the time-lapse you'll see I went through a phase with this painting to create visible texture and cow-hide print. I decided to steer away from that since they didn't reflect the pear I ate. I painted the stalk as a tap dropping raspberries to fall into the sauce since it all flowed so well in terms of flavour. However I then painted the tiny pears dripping down a leaf which can also be interpreted upside-down and painted aspects of the painting taped to the wall behind yet not having the shadows match. I chose to throw in these confusing representations as I felt heaps uneasy when ordering the food all night in general. It seemed as if they were saying “yes” to my dietary requirements but not going to follow through, so I felt uneasy the entire meal wondering if I'd been poisoned. I included the tape because from the chefs point of view it probably felt like a Frankenstein version of the original meal. Watching the Boats Sail Past

I created this artwork during an art challenge of mine (this week involved ten artworks) and as I looked through a book of artworks I own I saw a seascape with boats and appreciated how serene the artwork looked and wanted one of my own. Naturally, doing a surreal twist. Prior to this in my previous weeks challenge (also ten artworks) I used ones of my doughnuts in a digital artwork and then glanced over at a boat and decided the two need to merge. I’m glad I made a painting of this before a digital piece as these turned out exactly as I aimed. I also wanted to reference an older painting I created, ‘Unexpected’ as I loved painting that artwork. Still Still Life

When looking at still life artworks I enjoy them however the fact that you can do so much more with a bowl of fruit and drink always crosses my mind. Really make the viewer think about what’s going on there. I also really like how still life ages and it’s atypical to see aged fruit in a still life artwork, there’s a beauty in aged fruit, especially rotting fruit when you see the brown start to show. I decided to paint my still life artwork in motion, as if something happened (I wont throw suggestions as to what, that’s up to you) that caused the still life arrangement to go flying around the canvas. I tried to paint off milk here however I never come across off milk so that’s my best attempt at this time in my life. As a surrealist I also enjoy painting items in the wrong colours. Even though the contents of this artwork are aged and moving around, it’s still, still life. Food On My Mind

I decided to paint this artwork after I discovered creamed honey. I have bees that visit my place everyday for honey and I opted in for creamed so I wouldn't have to fight with a bee to eat my pancakes. The bee's didn't recognise the creamed version and that solved my problem which had me wondering if food were a different consistency would we still enjoy it as much? I painted a pizza as soup and wine as jelly. I feel like I still have room for improvement in executing the realness of the artwork although this is where I'm at right now. Honey Jar

Everyday I eat pancakes and in general pretty much drink honey. One day the light hit the honey jar and decided to paint it. Since I pretty much drink it I decided to paint the honey in a fluid manner taking over the fruit around it.
