My previous artwork was a woman sailing away from an island and I called it ‘Leaving’ because I realised I’d grown differently to my friends and didn’t fit in anymore. This artwork was inspired by a photo I took then manipulated in photoshop as my digital art process. I recreated the image as a painting although with a surreal twist where the tree is side-ways. Lightning Waterfall

Unfortunately this artwork has gone missing! So I guess it’ll be one of those that resurfaces when my career takes off. It was safely hanging in a dentists office as advertisement to buy and it’s home should the artwork sell through one of my channels and the office changed ownership and now it’s gone. Before painting this artwork, I created a digital artwork just like this and enjoyed putting lightning in my artworks, so I decided to see how it works out with paint. It’s a challenge that ended up being a long-standing challenge and I’m not sure the two art forms will ever meet in the middle. You’ll see I try this challenge many times over the years. Primary Flavours

This is a painting I made based on the concept of primary colours, where you can mix yellow, blue and red in any combination along with the shades black and white to make any colour. I went through a mini phase in 2020 trying to improve my cooking and thought why can't making flavours be like making colours? Why can't we assign sour sweet ect. In order to make it clear what goes “well” together. The painting is a skewer of a lemon (yellow/ sour), blueberry (blue/ sweet) and chilli (red/ spicy) dripping down their colours where the drips mix to form a watermelon which floats to the surface, in the background are oranges and cucumbers already formed. This painting warrants a second thought after I show off my painting “Cheese”, one I made a few weeks later after learning something about my brain and flavours. This is something I do and made it a painting.. Sometimes when I'm out in public and notice someone looking at me I strategically stand behind a pole so I feel like they cant see me. So I painted this, a street with people hiding behind poles. Ironically though, it could be the pedestrian intentionally hiding or the car moving at a pace where the person you're watching just happens to be behind the pole as you pass, walking at the same pace (relatively) and you never satisfy the curiosity of seeing what that persons face looked like. Naturally, as a surrealist, I plopped the street in the desert and the street lines are floating up. Hand stretched, has a certificate of authenticity and sold with hooks ready to hang!

This is an artwork I wanted to paint having recently seen a much older artwork ‘Personality’ and wanted to create a new one with the same spots. From there I painted a window and felt like painting someone on the other side looking in. On the inside I continued a very unexpected scene with the bird and light from the spots. While painting it I wanted to paint the idea of peeking into someone else’s thoughts or point of view, only after I finished the artwork I managed to put the idea together verbally and this isn’t my artwork on conspiracy theories (one on the way) but I’ve decided to look into many conspiracy theories as I find them interesting. So it’s peering into another world that exists alongside yours but it may be unsettlingly different. I am the last person you should ask what the time is, ever. This artwork is part of my twenty in twenty days and the entire time I consistently gauged the time wrong which affected the project. While brainstorming idea’s I reflected on how I’ve encountered people who are sticklers for time, down to the minute. The kind who think being five minutes late is late, I’ve definitely been grilled by these people because they explain they think it’s out of disrespect for them. So I felt like painting a visual of what time looks like in my world vs what it’s probably like in theirs. I’m the left… and sometimes my total mess happens to throw a little shade on their blocks. It’s not intentional, my blocks are a mess all the time and sometimes there’s collateral damage. I find it vein when these people walk around thinking people bad with time are out to disrespect them. Times Passing You By

This is the final idea from my 80 artworks challenge and I aimed to show how people let time pass them by so easily. Definitely not as well executed as other artworks and an idea I’ll definitely come back to. I began the challenge as I saw a planet alignment coming up and needed to make sure I have my artworks set so whatever comes my way won’t affect the art machine. A daunting idea, 80 artworks in 77 days (and I went over by 2 days). Yet every time I thought about it I looked back at my other goals that year and reflected on how many activities I’ve completed by just showing up. Showing up is easy, then staying is easy. 

So many people let time pass them by and it could have been very easy for me to just say “tomorrow” over and over again for the 11 weeks and missed my window. I’ve done it before, and it’s not a good feeling looking back and seeing you wasted months on end putting off a one hour task. So this is the artwork, a thinking statue and their head flying off with the birds as if they’re time. But this guy isn’t going anywhere, he’s just kidding himself. Never Really Gone

I really enjoyed painting ‘Everything and Nothing’, an artwork similar to this with a pear shaped hill, alluding to there being a pear, yet it’s just a landscape so there’s nothing there. That artworks gone now and I wanted to create another, however slightly different idea in mind. This time the hill is a cow. Death reminded me of this idea, when you bury a pet, or anything, the grass is greener, so naturally the moisture droplets evaporate through the greenery over night. When someone dies, you don’t just forget they existed so I painted the water hanging over the hill like memories. This artwork is one of my 80 in 79 days and I decided to paint the feeling of a night walk. However this turned out very different to the idea I had in mind which included a building. The Fortune Teller

This is an artwork I decided to create after wondering about fortune tellers and how they end up becoming one. I knew a woman who seemingly decided to become one one day, she wasn’t the most honest person so I genuinely questioned her motives. Others have their own paths, so I painted a fortune teller at an empty fair in her hut. Behind her the hut continues to stretch into the blurry distance, underneath I painted symbols of life events that could have led her to this career, they can be interpreted as the viewer wishes, although I wanted to include items that symbolise religion, time, spirits, threats, money and so on. Confirmation Bias

After some indecision with the concept on this artwork I’d watched a Tom Cruise interview being analysed and the journalist brought up confirmation bias; going into your research on a topic only to confirm your opinion. So I decided to play with this idea. You may look at this artwork and see the floating circles creating a large cylinder shape, or you might see them as a flat mesh of circles pivoting on their own axis, you might even decide that they aren’t circles and some are ellipses. The next decision the viewer would make is to look for other elements in the artwork to give confirm whichever opinion they’ve set on. I haven’t included any hints to which is what, so, to mimic anyones real life research to confirm their bias on anything it’s up to you to see what’s not intentionally there to confirm what you see and the environment is the same for everyone. This oil painting came to mind while finishing off the previous artwork where I painted in some tape. I then decided to paint an object with multiple clear items on top. This then turned into painting make-up brushes and making a thought piece on makeup. Are we using makeup to become the standard, or in some cases the choice of makeup could show exactly what they're trying to hide. This artwork is out of my element, using less contrast as I normally would and pastel colours while also challenging myself to paint transparency over transparency. This is a painting I created with the idea in mind to make a floating fruit bowl wrapped in a white cloth. I called it Cigarette for Breakfast because it doesn't resemble nutrients or fruit at all, the white colour cloth is emptiness like when you ask someone what they had for breakfast and they tell you a cigarette... I made this painting during my lockdown challenge (finish one painting, colouring in my book or digital artwork each day) so during the lockdown I felt really short on time and I cut into my sleep often. I found it interesting that one week I only slept about four hours each night and it didn't seem to affect my productivity, this is the painting I made that week. Dreams are really interesting, I painted the globes handing off a thread as if they're the dream each night, warping the realities reflection behind each one. Commenting on how dreams can replay real life activities and twist the plot. I also need to practice making paintings with a red hue sky. I've been super pear focused lately, probably because I've been making more artworks in a shorter space of time and the topics of each merge together. So I made another pear! I wanted to follow up on the style of my recent 'Spotty Pig' as I noticed quite a few people saved that one.I almost left this artwork just as a spotty pear although right before I thought I finished I watched a Bosch documentary which caused me to think twice about leaving it simple. So I added a cage and an ear. After finishing it, it reminded me of listening.. how there's sound around you and sometimes you ignore the sounds and sometimes you absorb them and contemplate. I started this with the intention to make a painting with a cow hide floor in the desert, where the hide is the ground. I then made the painting as I went along and painted bones then birds emerging from the hide, flying into the clouds and seedlings sprouting. When I finished the painting I decided to name it after what comes to mind when I look at it, reincarnation comes to mind. I named it 7th lifetime because I wanted to leave the feeling with the viewer that it's a cycle on repeat. In the distance a red planet, red for energy. A few weeks back my mates asked me what this juice that I made tasted like and I told them.. “round and brown”. I repeated myself because I often confuse people with some of the things I say and they told me “Oh you're synesthetic”. I had no clue what they meant.. At first I thought that meant that you see colours with music although soon learnt it includes any trigger of another sense when using a different one. After a week of going in a google rabbit hole I learnt that I do a few.. But this painting is based on tasting the shapes and colours of flavours. This is cheese, I'm lactose intolerant so there's only one yellow cheese I can buy, it doesn't say what type and this is what I see when I taste cheese. A rich smooth orange/red brown (like the Australian earth colour, the yellow sunset is the sharp aftertaste that follows, yet, I'm not focused on that) and the cheese has a wide flavour, so I express the wide-ness as a clear sheet (warmer than glass) floating over and moulding with the curves of the ground that stretches as far as you can see. You may have come across this artwork looking for a giraffe, when I showed people the artwork in real life I definitely sensed some confusion. The giraffe is abstract, and the magic of abstract art is that the next person sees something different to you, if it’s real abstract art as opposed to splotches dumped on a canvas. It reminds me of a giraffe because when I work on my giraffe in my digital artworks I’ve reached the point where I cut out all the giraffe spots individually and paste them back with a different colour or some sort of alteration. I made this painting based on a digital artwork I created a couple years back in terms of layout, creating it revolved more around the time frame I gave myself and just creating it so I didn't have a concept in mind. I had to name it so I based the name on another painting I recently finished which also has a floating crossing, as if they're connected and this is the day time version. I ended up really focusing on the texture of the floor because I told insta that they can decide when I start painting a different section.. Busking Acrylic Painting

This is an artwork I recently made while busking, I decided I wanted to paint busking, while busking. The pathway is the people passing by, the water is the fountain behind me and I wanted to turn the crossing into thoughts (of bubbles). The goal was to incorporate ideas from old artworks like the water from, ‘Unexpected’, the crossing from ‘Crossing the Desert’ but to my surprised I thought up a new idea while painting in front of people and decided to put the cowhide pattern on the bubbles. If I were alone painting I would have ventured further into this idea so expect it to pop up in an artwork soon. A woman didn’t read the room and sat to my right for longer than I liked and that’s why the right is more bare than the left. I’ve decided not to varnish the artwork as I’m not sure if I want to paint over it since it’s made of acrylic and I prefer oils. The artwork’s concept was also compromised due to busking conditions so it’s not as finished as I’d liked. Video of the busking adventure on my Patreon if you’re interested! There’s no timelapse of this artwork but there will be an artventure video. I’ve also decided that this is the first of an idea I’ll work on for the next year, one budget friendly artwork a month. I price my artworks so people won’t feel compelled to throw them out when their decor changes (and increasing skill), so if you buy one of the budget friendly artworks please show the same respect as if you bought it for $700. The rest will be on cardboard, like Edvard Munch’s Scream. This is a painting very different to my others, I made it during my lockdown challenge and it became super clear I'd been repeating the same setting in each different painting so I decided that since I'm making different types of paintings I should create a very 2D style one as well. At the time I'd just started learning about illusions and this includes one where geometric shapes sit at a particular spot to create the illusion that there's another image. Here people are convinced there's a vase, yet there's no actual vase being painted. I also threw in my surrealist flare and painted the flowers different colours to their natural colour, similar to my fruit bowl painting. A while back I purchased a date, banana and coconut juice, my mates asked me what it tasted like and I told them “round and brown”, synaesthesia Usually I'd get a response something along the lines of being called weird.. and I'd learnt to brush it off, recently learning that it's the way my brain connects senses. When I taste food a visual composition accompanies it. When I tasted the banana, date and coconut juice I'd see a clear and matte white sphere floating around with a cool breezy environment, I'd also see a shade of brown emerge on the side that's faded away on the sphere. This painting is a bunch of tall poppies, from the saying “tall poppy syndrome” where, commonly in Australia (I hear) the most talented and high achievers are somewhat shamed for expressing or not denying their skill, so they cut the tall poppies down to size. I started making it thinking that with all the social media giving false promises of fame everyone seems to be a “tall poppy” without showing the skill or talent that could make them special (from what I see in gen Z). This is an artwork I created after visiting the zoo, the animals looked bored with their lives and their lives were split up into categories; play time, eating time, mating time. That's why I split up the rhino into three sections and under water, being out of its element. This artwork has a little lore to it and is unavailable. In 2017 I created a digital artwork of a cup with a forest in it, I really liked the idea and wanted my own mini earth in a cup. A common artwork concept. From there I then continued my challenge of recreating digital artworks with paint, quite a challenge. The artwork was then entered and a finalist for the 20cm x 20xm inaugural art prize. After it returned and a few years later I decided to gift it to my grandma and currently sits proudly in her home. The Rabbit Hole

This is an artwork I created in the final week of my 80 artworks and during the whole event I’d turned off my notifications, the radio and pretty much any outside world distractions. This was an enjoyable activity and when it ended I told people “I’ve resurfaced from the rabbit hole”. I had no clue what’s been going on in the real world. At the end when I made this I had a feeling I’d been living in a different world to everyone else. So here’s the rabbit hole, the rabbits never end. The Package

This is a painting of a package floating over a hole in the ground, in the desert. I created this small painting to represent hopes and fears, when people have a physical package unexpectedly arrive at their home, people tend to be excited and expect good things. Ironically humans tend to fear the future and what's in store for them.. the unknown bothers people. I'm bouncing off the idea that the unknown future is a package in the form of time and experiences that was specially sent for the individual, but they didn’t order it and don’t know if it’s a good idea to open it.
