This artwork went through a little bit of a transformation, first I photographed some juice being poured into a cup and wanted to use the stick of the pear as the tip of the juice bottle, it didn’t end up working out and I just went rogue and turned the pears into balloons then threw a door into a mountain edge. This artwork originally had two versions where I rotated one and either had the door up right or from the ground.

I only create digital artworks out of photos from things around me, for this artwork I’d wanted to include my colouring book series but also felt like it was a bit of cheeky advertising as this was before AI learning and was sharing my artworks to Instagram.

This artwork was a challenging artwork, recently before beginning I’d fallen into a mini monochrome rabbit hole, seeing the wonderful ideas that could be conveyed through monochrome, but you need to do it right to be affective. I’m not sure I aced it with this one. At the time COVID was also going on and everyone was oddly segregated, I think it settled in a sense of division within the culture (at least in the main cities of Australia) for at least the following six years. I painted the rainbow but separated… It’s not really a rainbow anymore and can’t be appreciated as such. This artwork is oil based, is one of my hand-stretched ones and sold with hooks ready to hang and a certificate of authenticity.

When deciding what to create with my next digital artwork I decided I wanted to create a mini scene in the kitchen with what I had. There’s also an inside joke here, “malk” for those who knew Julian Smith around 2010. It reminds me of sleeping beauty just a bit, I also specifically added the eggs on the clouds as I was going for something there.

A few years prior to creating this artwork I’d adventured down to Sea Cliff Bridge and photographed some fantastic long exposures. Later on I decided I wanted to create a digital artwork out of it, however creating digital surreal artworks from long distance landscape photos are difficult and at the time I’d decided I wanted to play with clouds and light. Night time digital artworks are also a minority in my portfolio and that comes as a challenge as well.

This was quite a fun artwork, naturally, as a plant person, I bought myself a pineapple to chop the top and grow my own because I think they looks cool, like the new pineapple sits in it’s own thrown as it grows. I also photograph anything interesting I come by so I can use it in a digital artwork. Following this I managed to create many pineapple artworks and this was the first. It also follows a phase where I practiced creating artificial lasers in my digital artworks.

I use the word frank as an adjective. Sometimes, when someone’s being frank they may come to a conclusion without having full thought through the idea or researched the topic and often encounter people who tell me they “don’t get art” and to them a painting on a wall may as well be a black hole for money, which to be frank, is quite a statement to tell someone about their career. Yet to me it’s ironic that people can appreciate the beauty of the rest of the world around them, just not value an idea being presented as an image. It’s interesting, so that’s what I painted. This artwork is oil based, is one of my hand-stretched ones and sold with hooks ready to hang and a certificate of authenticity.

Not long ago it clicked for me that not everyone is creative… I Naively thought that people were being lazy when explaining “I can't” when it comes to thinking outside the box. Soon after I made a painting about an image that comes to mind when listening to a song which sparked discussion about what people see in their minds. I then learnt about hyperphantasia; the genetic trait to vividly see images as your hearts content in your imagination, and the opposite, aphantasia where someone struggles to create an image. I then began asking people around me what they would imagine if they imagined up an apple. I also knew one who doesn’t picture anything at all, the opposite of me. So from that thought I wanted to visualise this for other people through art, this is how it ended up. The artwork sold quite soon after completing it through an online gallery that eventually shut down. I also painted the background at a different pace to the foreground and used more oil on the foreground which caused a minor amount of cracking, this isn’t due to age but due to process and the idea of how artworks form their cracks will be a new concept for a future artwork. This artwork is oil based, is one of my hand-stretched ones and sold with hooks ready to hang and a certificate of authenticity.

I saw an artwork of a painting that looked like a window when hung up, I then wanted to paint something similar but with a different concept, I also wanted to have a go at creating a painting that had more reds in it as sometimes I create plenty of blue artworks. So with those parameters in mind I decided to paint a cloud in a gallery seated, watching either a painting hung up as the window, or a window watching other clouds as if it’s an artwork. This artwork is oil based, is one of my hand-stretched ones and sold with hooks ready to hang and a certificate of authenticity.

This is a painting of some bees in bubbles floating on a cloud. For me, it's as if a bee hive has been falsely left to live out some freedom, they can’t actually explore the world as they want, the bubble takes them where life goes. I found the 9-5 corporate office job quite empty and feel as if a bee in a bubble would, not real freedom and not really accomplishing much, yet being rewarded financially on a fortnightly basis as if you have. I vaguely remember seeing an artwork of a stretched car or a floating car before this however it was a render as opposed to a raster image and I decided I wanted to photograph my car and create a version of my own. I wanted to do it back in 2018 although only got around to it in 2020.

This is a digital artwork created from a photo I took in the Royal National Park, NSW. I love a good road photo with greenery and wasn’t sure what to do with this photo, I’d also just perfected my lone cloud and decided to pop it in with some lasers that I was enjoying creating. The raw file actually has a range of colours so if you want one in particular, please let me know know.

I ended up unsure about this one, I created it as a continuation from my 'Money Tree' painting which was quite well received and was complimented by that foolish “Make another!” “tip” so I did. People like to try and solve my sales pattern without understanding that being an artist is just an unpredictable lifestyle, you need to be built for it. The first artwork, ‘Money Tree’ sold almost immediately and there were also raging fires going on in Australia so people jumped to the conclusion that the buyer must have felt moved by the fires, it’s honestly anyone’s guess, we don’t know why it moved them. But to follow up on that guess, this one reminds me of the recovery after the fires, the water sits on the tree like a koala, then ignites the lasers from within the tree, as if it's been revived from the fires. After a few years of blindly following peoples advice accompanied with plenty of pressure I decided making artworks on the advice of someone who has no experience isn’t a good tactic and I don’t do it anymore. In the concept of this artwork I took the saying of things turning “pear shaped” literally. My intention is for the pears to express how the journey of each small progress in my career goes pear shaped so often, but each obstacle in each of those tiny goals is a learning curve that I needed. So I pelt the pears at the ladder. The painting was then followed up by a sequel, they're sold together. The sequel is the ladder being dinged around by the pears and the climb continues. This artwork is oil based, is one of my hand-stretched ones and sold with hooks ready to hang and a certificate of authenticity.

This is a painting I thought of while listening to the song 'White Flag' by Dido. The main part of the painting is a sunken sail which takes the shape of a white flag not catching wind, I made it to represent a fallen relationship while the other boats sail in the clouds. Turned out to be a pretty grim painting although it doesn't seem to reflect my perception at the moment, I think it’s pretty nice. I made this digital artwork to mark my 27th birthday and I was hoping to make something a lot more aligned with my style although I guess it didn't work out that way. However I'm getting good feedback on this one so I guess it’s a success! Each year for a little while there when I was still sharing artworks to instagram I’d create holiday themed artworks and this was one of them. I tried to aim for a similar artwork to my previous birthday artwork, ‘Gold Thoughts’, with a hologram, then I intended to make a giant me in the clouds moving it although I guess not.

This was partially a challenge artwork, I wanted to know how I’d go about executing an underwater scene in my living room. There was also a cactus I’d just bought and wanted it in an artwork. To whip out this final piece I had to really move some things around to get the right shots. This is how it turned out!

This painting came to mind when I was listening to Midnight Oi's “Beds are Burning” song. So I painted it, then took the bands name a little literally with this artwork and made an ocean of oil. At the time I was also in a phase of seeing how much I could reduce my carbon footprint and it’s net negative if you really focus on it. So the concept is environmental here. This artwork is oil based, is one of my hand-stretched ones and sold with hooks ready to hang and a certificate of authenticity.

Recently before painting this cactus I’d found myself a silver torch cacti and it’s beautiful. I’d painted cacti before as the cactus version of a stick figure human in different concepts. I’d also recently mastered how to visually create a laser in both paint or digitally from scratch so I wanted to combine these. The idea of cacti embodying a little personification and the lasers made me want to paint EDM, electronic dance music, which I was also a little bit into at the time. This artwork is oil based, is one of my hand-stretched ones and sold with hooks ready to hang and a certificate of authenticity.

I am such a fan of this artwork. It’s the beginning of some extremely funky party animals showing up in my digital artworks and this is where it began. The idea came from me just wondering how tall the animals could stack up to be, I tried to get the perspective right answer remember being surprised the giraffe wouldn’t be bigger. So here it is, some party animals and that’s pretty close to the proportions.

This was a covid artwork, I didn’t mind the social distancing in person, it was nice to have the person behind you in line at the grocery store genuinely not allowed to be on your back and being forced to go for a walk instead of sitting at a cafe wasn’t the worst. But it came with its trade offs, I didn’t expect people to regress in their social skills. I wasn’t really sure how to make a digital artwork on this idea so I whipped out my laptop, took some photos and sliced the ocean like I enjoy doing.

This artwork reminds me of one of my paintings. I’d just taken a photo of a can and had a friends piano on file and I wanted to pop them in an artwork. From there I wanted to make the can of art, so I warped an artwork into the label and also decided to include a geometric style step in the earth. I also wanted to utilise a photo of my paint which turned out pretty funky. This is how it ended up. The artwork is also in one of my colouring in books if you want to have a go at drawing it!

This artwork derives from the idea that I’ve played around with in a few artworks, the earth being shaped in a sharp geometric 90º angle. This time I wanted to see how I’d go with adding a beach style water on it as opposed to cutting an ocean or a road. Turns out it’s not that difficult! From there I wanted to include my giraffe as if it’s entering our dimension from another or in a waterfall.

This is a memorable artwork! Mainly because the file became half corrupt when I wrapped it up. I was so proud of what I’d made and I couldn’t simply open it to adjust some things before finishing it. The idea behind this is that I wanted to create a chain out of my motorbike, through the wheels. I think I did a decent job. It’s also in a colouring in book if you want to have a go at making the artwork yourself.

I love how this artwork turned out! I took this photo before I changed my sleeping schedule to something that suits me and my art more. So when this was taken I was up as the sun rose and had the opportunity to take a photo of my living room in this lighting. From there I’d mastered clouds and wanted to make it a real fairytale, the way that I felt when I saw the photo I’d taken.

You may have come across this artwork looking for a giraffe, when I showed people the artwork in real life I definitely sensed some confusion. The giraffe is abstract, and the magic of abstract art is that the next person sees something different to you, if it’s real abstract art as opposed to splotches dumped on a canvas. It reminds me of a giraffe because when I work on my giraffe in my digital artworks I’ve reached the point where I cut out all the giraffe spots individually and paste them back with a different colour or some sort of alteration. To me it looks like that but in the shape of water. This artwork is oil based, is one of my hand-stretched ones and sold with hooks ready to hang and a certificate of authenticity.

This painting just happened, I started painting and originally wanted just a pear in an ocean… Then it just worked out the way it did. So I call it “unexpected” as it shows as a metaphor as well. Later on I ended up recreating this artwork in a few speed rounds of busking and an Art Battle. This artwork is oil based, is one of my hand-stretched ones and sold with hooks ready to hang and a certificate of authenticity.

This is a painting I call “Notified”, it's my phone lock screen and shows the notifications falling. In Australia from 2019-2020 I've noticed that lighting up my phone to see the notifications was often met with seeing a scrollworthy list of updates from the news about the current disaster. Perhaps Aussies have been desensitised to the amount of deaths that casually pop up on our screens. I eventually became someone who doesn’t have apps on my phone and looking back at this artwork, it’s interesting to see the complicated trail of events that lead to it. This artwork is hand-stretched, oils and hooks will be attached on sale.

I originally wanted to paint a house floating from the mountain and then decided to change it, this is the outcome. This artwork is one of my smallest ones which makes it a tad trickier to execute with the same level of detail as a larger artwork, in the end I think it turned out quite sweet! One day I was sent a video of an artist making a painting using a bicycle, naturally as a competitive person, I wanted to make one blindfolded. So this is it. It's a sky that's cut like a diamond. I think this artwork hits home harder for residents in Melbourne. The buyer ended up being from there. When I paint cacti I like to think of them of versions of people and I’m really proud of how this one turned out. At the time, COVID had hit and we were all required to wear masks out in public. Some people inferred that at ini your car with all your windows up too, studies also show it didn’t make a difference and anyone with an opposing opinion was silenced. So whether you see this as the cactus was silenced or the cactus wants to wear the mask it’s up to you. Interestingly, I had a few besties there that were consecutively vegans. I’m not though, I sit in the camp of meat in every meal please or it’s not a meal. I’d also always wanted a cow hide since first moving out and until I managed to afford a few I had a fake one. Then when my real ones manifested themselves I’d proudly announce there’s a cow hide in the room. Some friends wont step on it and that’s where our opinions differ, I see it as the circle of life and it’s a waste to now use the hide. So this is where the artwork comes in, it’s the circle of life. I think we’ve all unknowably been there. Where you’re presented with a problem and it’s quite a problem so you think about it probably a bit too much, then your perspective becomes warped and you make decisions based on the warped perception you have of the problem. Similar to some other night time artworks, I struggled with the night time background for a while and I’m not sure I’ve fully mastered it yet. I remember pulling over to take a few photos for this artwork and I assumed no one was paying attention. A moment later a man asks me if I’m okay or selling my car? No… Had to pause and make some art… You know. So the artwork’s background is the actual shot, more black than dark blue that I now think would be more suitable for my artworks. The rest is just me playing around seeing how the artwork would play out with a flying car.

You never know what’s going on in someone’s life when you meet them. We also live in a culture where online presence plays a big factor in keeping up with the Joneses. I wanted to paint the idea that in many cases someones putting up an image of squeaky clean perfect duck and underneath the water is actually a bunch of brown feathers frantically paddling away keeping things together. This artwork is a close friends favourite, it really resonates with her and she ended up snapping it up. She would always look at it and cross her fingers it ended up in her home and it eventually did! Every time I look up this artwork in my files I never find it. Past me titled this artwork “Couch Hole”. I hope that sheds some light on the transformation this artwork went through then eventually landed here. I remember somewhat wanting to pop my couch in the ocean, then from there that lead into making a geometric hole in the ocean, then I guess it didn’t look right and here we are. I think this one is much more coherent, considering my artworks are surreal in general.

Sometimes when I create a digital artwork I create many versions or save a version before changing it and in some cases I can’t decided which one I want to sell. Usually I’ll just throw any suitable version up because after a few years of sales I see that my taste isn’t everyone’s taste and the art lovers often choose artworks I would have never guessed. When creating this artwork I wanted to use my black an white portrait photo but mix it with the challenge of turning it gold, digitally and also add a painting in it as well. I guess I went in loaded wth ideas for this one and I’m not sure I hit the mark! These are the results. Definitely funky.

This is an appropriation of the artwork 'The Guitar Player' by Jean-Baptiste Greuze 1755-60 71 x 56cm. I haven't seen the original in real life although managed to copy most of it from a small book. The appropriation is based on the object that the guitar player is holding, in the original he holds an actual guitar and in my appropriation he holds a computer with Logic Pro X open which shows tracks; differentiating between then and now. Mix between romanticism and surrealism. This artwork is one of my hand-stretched ones and always sold with hooks ready to hang!

Here we go again with another challenge artwork. I’ve tried this so many times and I feel like I never master it; creating a painting out of a digital artwork and vice versa. The artwork I tried to recreate is ‘Art in Desert’ but since my digital artworks are just creativity vomit and the paintings have concepts, I tied a concept to it. This time the road represents my road to success being paved with my artworks. Still on it! I wanted an artwork with an umbrella floating around. I guess a Merry Poppins kind of idea. I struggle with my digital artworks at night though and this is one of those that I look back at and wonder if I hit the mark. However art is subjective! I ran a kickstarter to launch my colouring in books and gave people the option to choose which digital artwork they wanted printed and this was one woman’s choice. It’s really fascinating to me to see the artworks people choose! I guess it did hit the mark for some.

This painting is for all the optimists out there. When I wake up and make breakfast I see a fun day ahead, still full of work although at the same time feels like a holiday. That's why I painted the plates to sort of be a pool, the bottle to be reminiscent of a palm tree and the tiles to either be sky or a hotel. What do you choose to see? This artwork is hand stretched and comes with hooks for hanging!
