In this artwork I play with psychology and gentrification. As I opened Saatchiart to upload one of my artworks another “artwork” caught my attention. This was priced at $20K+, so I clicked onto the artwork to see what majestic concept the “artist” aimed to channel. None. The listing literally said ‘décor’. I’m offended. So offended turned my offence into an artwork. ‘Simulation theory’ then kicks in and I happened to stumble across a massive canvas to repurpose for this concept. I decided to genuinely show off my talent in this piece although price it stupidly high on the online galleries and have no description, to give the impression it’s décor. I’m assuming the gallery will place it in a nice position since they’ll make a huge commission, I aim for the viewers to question the price. Leading them to see my other artworks and seeing a huge discrepancy. I wonder if the viewers will then look up my name and see this description on my own website to see I’m mocking the gentrification of décor artists and have a real description and appropriate price here (according to my level of fame). The game here is if someone ends up buying it direct, they win the game… If they go through a gallery without finding the true meaning of the artwork, I win the game. I risk being kicked off the online galleries with this artwork although that’s part of the statement I’m making. I tried painting this in 9 days although finished it in ten, because of the timeline I gave myself there’s definitely some tiny parts where I could have calculated the paint drying better so there are a few touch-ups which don’t reflect my aim to entirely show off my talent… The items in the artwork aren’t meant to have meaning however I definitely painted it with a story in mind, that’s just the way it worked out. I'm against doing commissions however this one seemed a tad unique and I took it on, the end result doesn't look like this and I won't be showing the final result. That is exclusive to the owner and I'm very proud of the first version. The original request of this artwork were to re-create a small painting I'd made, 'Solid Choice', only larger. I changed this artwork up accordingly, this time keeping the sheet flat and having water holding it up. I included the spotty birds which feature in my artwork, 'Flock Party' to represent a rainbow which refers to a jargon term from an event in the owners life. I included a pear as my stamp on the artwork and Virgo the constellation as the man in the painting has an Irish/ Russian background which both share a Virgo rising sign. Since I've been looking at Bosch artworks lately I'm interested in adding detail in the artworks. There is morse code in this one.

Snacking & Daydreaming

I began this painting with an entirely different idea in mind, originally having the cow-pear in a therapy chair facing a picture that resembles a window with a tree branching in and the walls divided into indoors and outdoors. Instead I didn't vibe with the painting and decided to get creative with it. In the mornings I have breakfast on my balcony surrounded by trees and look up into the blue sky. So I decided to paint that. The fruit stuck on the wall is my breakfast, as if the cow-pear keeps it there, pulling one down to snack on it and it looks out into the blue where there are imaginary animals. I decided to paint the coloured elephants and giraffes from my digital artworks. At first I wanted to paint the elephant with the same long curly legs as the giraffe although I face an obstacle where people liken my artworks to Dali's so I needed to avoid elephants with long legs. Instead I stretched it's ears into and behind the water. I hid the giraffes face and originally intended to hide the elephants face (although it began to look creepy) with the idea that they share a head. The tape is different on each fruit because I wanted to reference the real life issue where tape always seems to be running out! I also decided it was important to brand the items in the paintings with barcode stickers of my own. Oil based, sold with hooks ready to hang and a certificate of authenticity!

Bicycle Ride

After my previous digital artwork, ‘Coffee on the Table’, I wanted to continue the trend of a very realistic setting however I’ve also taken on quite a few projects at the moment and am short of new background photos. So I decided to use my trusty Royal National Park photo for this one. I challenged myself by using much less saturated colours than usual and editing the landscape just a little bit as well. In general I wanted to use my bicycle from ‘Messy Bicycle’ and put it into this new style. In the end I’m pretty pleased with it but want to try different tactics with a photo background I’ve taken. I also felt like throwing in the regular protagonists from my other artworks.

Car in a Car

I wanted to create a car in a car while working on my 80 artworks project as something unique although now that some time has passed and I’m recording the artwork in my spreadsheet, this was probably a subconscious continuation from my ‘Road Trip’ artwork and a variation of ‘Car Stack’ from many years ago. Since I decided to create a night digital artwork it definitely turned out a tad different to what I expected!

Alpaca's Calling

This is an artwork I created during my 80 artworks and the idea came from two previous ideas. One being ‘Alpaca Wall’ and the other ‘Camouflage Partyraffant’. I’ve always appreciated the transparency of the wall in ‘Camouflage Partyraffant’ and tried to replicate it quite a few times. 

While creating the artwork I wanted to channel some dreamy vibes, the window’s calling.

Smokey Bird

This is one of my 80 artworks and when I began it I thought I’d quickly wrap the bird in leaves although that wasn’t quick and it didn’t look good (I recommend watching the time lapse for this one) I then changed my mind on what I wanted to create and at the time I thought the concept of turning the bird into half smoke would be too simple. After creating it I decided this artwork took a very good turn.

I decided to create this artwork as cockatoos sometimes visit me and genuinely watch me colour in… I like to think they know they’re in some of my artworks. I tend to have a coffee when colouring in (I have a colouring in book series you should check out) so this artwork is coffee with the birds. Something I’m not doing intentionally is when I’m given instructions I tend to take the instructions as is but give it a creative twist. So if you wanted me to give you an image of coffee with birds, this is what you get.

Hungry Bird

During my 80 artworks challenge I made whatever came to mind, I began this with an entirely different idea (check out the video documentations) where I wanted to create a bird with leaves for feathers. Unfortunately with the style that I manipulate the photos to, the leaves looked too doctored and I couldn’t achieve the desired outcome. So I rage quit and made a bird version of a previous artwork, ‘Hungry Giraffe’ which is also the pixel test print I see every time I leave my home. Now it has a pair.

This is an idea that came into mind when painting my painting, ‘Death of the Rock Piano’ where I looked at my digital artwork using a piano where I changed the colours and decided I should create another with zebra stripes, then since I already created a piece with a stripy giraffe I thought I’d include that and just turn it black and white. This didn’t look like zebra stripes so I ventured on to create stripes which resemble the actual pattern and this is the outcome.

This is a painting of a pear with a cow hide skin growing from a hand shaped tree with sparkles on it, the inside of the pear has a ladder and birds flying from it. I had this canvas sitting waiting to be started and I just decided that I wanted to paint a pear with a cow hide skin in a dim setting, I had no intention with meaning behind it, so like a viewer seeing the painting for the first time I decided what it meant for me after I completed it. I’m a big fan of cow hides, using the whole cow. I have a few and to me they’re a medal, like when you make one the star of you’re home you’re showing off the sacrifices the cow made throughout it’s life, I painted (and own) holstein cow hides which is the cow that produces milk, so the idea of how many babies and people in general that cow gave it’s nutrients to and the hard work comes to mind when I wonder about a life it would have had. Pears in my paintings also play along with the metaphor when people say something went “pear shaped”. So I personally see it that the pear is the life/home I’m building through my hand crafted career. Oil Based, signed with a certificate of authenticity and ready to hang.

When creating this artwork I decided I wanted to make some thug birds. This is them. My friend has an inside joke where she calls all cockatoo’s ‘Collin’ following a story where she had a baby the same time as some resident cockatoos. Every time I hear the name though I think of a lad. So this title felt fitting.

I really like that one, it’s simple but so complicated simultaneously, so I recreated it with the Beetle. This time I didn’t zoom in to the edges and it just turned out different by approaching it differently.

This is a continuation from my ‘Springhood’ artwork where I created a pear that’s a spring shape but also melts like icing. This time I wanted it to be the centrepiece and make it conceptual. Playing with the idea that a bird really would get in the way of a view in real like, especially cockatoos, and adding to the mystery of what’s behind the bird.

While colouring in the ‘Car Lessons’ page in the Paintings 2022 edition of my colouring in book series I decided to create a digital artwork where I showed a car unravelling like it does in the artwork that’s shown the colouring in book. 

The artwork didn’t go to plan after executing the car slinky so I changed the scene to include an ice cream statue with a ladder on it. After that I wanted to include more so it felt busy. Less staged.

Something I’ve done before (‘Ice Cream Town’ as an example) but I haven’t turned the motorbike into one which means it’s time to do so! I then created the other because I thought it should be done.

Portrait of My Sadness

A while back I felt sad and since the universe dumped an excessive amount of talent this way, I decided to paint a portrait of my sadness to make other people feel sad when they stop and watch the artwork. This isn’t a self portrait. Since a smile is contagious, so is everything else. I added a severed hand, the idea originally spawned from a recently sold artwork ‘The Decomposed Musician’ then I decided it’s representative of the memories that keep their grip. Floating fruit in the background representing my art goals as unfocused 3D glasses since being sad makes it hard to focus on them. Birds stuck in the wall, unlike all my other bird artworks where they fly freely and a frame around her head as women are strongly influenced to keep from confronting issues and sit pretty, until it’s too late to communicate. With the hand holding the frame in place and the vines pulling it back slightly. This artwork is one of my hand-stretched ones, sold with hooks ready to hang and a certificate of authenticity.

I originally had a very different idea in mind for this painting, if you watch the video you can see I began to paint a couple ideas and landed on this one. This was a lockdown challenge painting (I completed a colouring of my book, a digital art or painting) and I reckon if I weren't painting it as part of my challenge it would have been one of those paintings that takes weeeeeks. So I named it 'Get a Grip' because I certainly didn't have a grip on this one, although I'm satisfied with how it turned out. My mum see's it as ladders to heavan, I see a blobs not being contained by the wings and dripping down into the unknown. LLM Lobotomy

We all knew for the dawn of time that if you peek over at the smart kids test and copy them you get absolutely nowhere once school ends. For some reason the exact same lesson in a different futuristic concept with robots seems to be entirely lost. I began painting a dodo wedged between a stack of books aiming to look as if he’d outsmarted the system by not reading the books. Then that wasn’t going well and I went to Europe and returned to abandon the idea. Then as I painted the artwork decided to return to the concept but this time with far more detail. I painted my bird flowers (flowers that fly off into birds) then decided that some of them decide to take a swim in the Kool-aid/ golden lake then lose their wings and climb up the stack of books as if that’s their key to freedom. It’s not flying if you’re just standing up in a high spot. Interestingly as I painted this I learnt that dodo’s weren’t dumb but evolved without any predators which lead hem to extinction. Since being dumb is their reputation I kept with it. It’s a human thing. This artwork is one of my hand-stretched ones, sold with hooks ready to hang and a certificate of authenticity.

This artwork was inspired by the way media interprets stories and collectively promote one end when in real life there are always many sides to the story. The artwork is a 90's television with the colour bars pouring into the ocean (into the real world) and two alternate perspectives. Spring Hood

Before making this artwork I made a digital artwork where I first created a land of spring animals. I really liked it but thought that I could do better painting it since fur is a tricky game on a computer by manipulating photos. So this artwork is mainly an exercise of skill. I also wanted to create an artwork with movement so that’s where the idea of the two birds crashing into each other came from. Recently I also painted ‘Thinking Things Up’ where I painted some horses in odd positions, falling, so I also continued on from that idea including the pink horse. Overall I wanted to paint like my digital artworks so I included my moon balloons. By the time I finished the artwork I couldn’t decide on a concept. When I look at it I see a world of spring animals, like the intent with the digital artwork as well, I just don’t have deep meaning for this artwork like the others. Either way, goals achieved! This is one of my 80 artworks and I began this idea with the intent of capturing movement within a painting after looking at Wyndham Lewis’s artwork ‘A Battery Shelled’ and seeing the movement there. The artwork took a plot twist when I looked at the painting image again in daylight and thought I was looking at something entirely different. I continued creating a response to what I thought I saw. I aimed to paint a running statue catching a ball which then turned into a statue hand throwing it and I aimed for the other parts of the artwork to appear as if they’re mid motion.

The artwork isn’t one of my favourites as it looks very different to my other paintings so I’m ‘on the fence’ with this one. Since I made it in October and months have passed before putting it up for sale I’m growing a liking to the result. Solid Choice

I decided to make a paining of a moment. I once had a romance with a guy for years and he stood out from the rest but it didn't work out and I never looked him up again. I was posting a load of my books last year and I noticed him glancing my way for a noticeable amount of time. The painting shows a woman made of sand building her life path, her hand moves the bricks away from the direction of the statue, her mind guides it and her legs walk it. Moving forward in every respect. A light river of gossip crosses her path yet not strong enough to move any of the bricks. His statue once sand has turned to glass, decorated with two memories and surrounded with clouds vaguely signifying wolfs which represents his friends. The glass, solidifying his choices, never to catch up with the front of her path ever again. This artwork is one of my hand-stretched ones, and always sold with hooks ready to hang!

The Hallucination

One day I was colouring in my colouring in book and felt an ant crawling on my hand, I then looked again and it was gone. You could say it jumped off or something, but I went down a thought trail and wondered if the ant was ever there in the first place? I had just read a book, ‘Genius, The Natural History of Creativity’ by H. J. Eysenck which explains that studies show more creative people tend to sit closer on the scale to psychosis. So wondering whether I’m immune to this trend was on my mind, if I am, am I not even that creative? Is the creativity a hallucination too? I continued the thought alongside this fresh new insight on psychology, it’s possible I imagined the ant… It’s possible I’m imagining everything around me. You could be insane and never know it. I shared the thought with a friend, she added we might not even be friends and either of us could be sitting there alone talking to ourselves. Then you add the reality that reality is just warped to your perspective and what you engage with. So if nothing’s real, then everything’s real and there’s no such thing as anything. From there I decided to paint the ants. I painted my hand but they’ve opened up a rabbit hole for me so I painted holes in the hands where birds fly in and out, like the birds in my artworks. I decided nothing’s real so the table turns into an ocean and some boats seem to be on struggle street knocked over. Then you’ll see that turns into a wave of water and travels into the distance. I tried making the room warp at the edges and the clouds sit as a pendant inside. The birds on the window are a reference to my digital artwork ‘Cockatoo’s at My Window’ This artwork is one of my hand-stretched ones, sold with hooks ready to hang and a certificate of authenticity.

Blasphemy of Decor Art

I decided to paint my feelings on décor art. The walls are cactus spikes, like some of my best paintings, at the bottom I painted a man hanging a frame (the décor art.......) as if he's framing the wall and at the top I painted a nod to renaissance art where you can see roof arches and biblical characters in them. Jesus is on the right, dead and holding up two fingers as his coat melts and flies away in the form of little birds. On the right you can see a man ready to jump the wall (for a fihgt), being held back by another and a woman watching over, hiding. Oil based, sold with hooks ready to hang and a certificate of authenticity!
