This is the first artworks I painted after my 80 artworks in 79 days. After that challenge I had a new way of managing my time which allowed me to focus on the details of my artworks more than before.
The idea is to create an artwork purely based on imagination instead of making a point. I also wanted to paint an artwork that I couldn’t easily do with a computer.
I began this artwork as a challenge to create a painting similar to my digital artworks as my digital artworks have a different style to my paintings. I’ve tried this many times and it’s something I haven’t mastered. This one however turned out much better.
I believe there are aspects here that I couldn’t have done with a computer, as my brother once said “you can do anything with paint, but you can’t on a computer”. I find this to be true.
I love these spiky waters I first created in my painting, ‘Devils Lake’, and want to make more. This time without a harsh context but an unknown substance as the topic. From there I intended to paint the rabbits floating out of the spikes in bubbles. This probably didn’t convey. Rabbits because the 80 artworks felt like a total 11 week long rabbit hole!
I intentionally wanted to paint horses in positions you wont be able to photograph, then merging into the fabric of the boat where a face hides (the head of your imagination) and the boat travels through dropping fabric that resemble limbs of the statues I painted in the past.
This artwork is one of my hand-stretched ones, sold with hooks ready to hang and a certificate of authenticity.
