While listening to a podcast the guest began playing a song which I then shazamed. I was surprised to learn that the artist was Charles Manson, but I do sit in the camp of separating the art from the artist so I decided to paint him as the rock star he never became. This was also my first artwork being documented in the form of a “How to” so each step was documented with incredible detail. I decided to paint an outfit as a mix of ideas from 80’s rock stars, the guitar and tattoo are odes to his cult and the expression is Bruce Springsteens. A guest recently visited and mentioned the expression makes her uncomfortable which is precisely how I wanted it to turn out. To have that Charles Manson crazy face look but also showing that expression Bruce showcases in the example photo. Every now and then I learn about a new phenomenon named “x” paradox. This time It was the Abilene paradox which is very fitting for western culture in recent years. There are plenty of rules being made up and no one thinks they’re reasonable. For example, Australia is using AI to enforce seatbelt fines, to achieve a road toll of zero. However the AI doesn’t work and the road toll is increasing since these fresh forms of distributing fines, so it doesn’t work. However anyone could predict that more surveillance would make drivers poorer drivers. So the Abilene Paradox is when there’s a group who needs to make a decision, eat the apple or the orange for example, and the majority think that everyone else wants the apple so they vote apple but in reality they want the orange and didn’t voice it in an attempt to stick with the group and be accepted. To visualise this I first thought up painting some still life where one half is floating and a different colour, or geometry, like that Simpsons episode where Homer enters a 3D space in the wall and have triangles flying through the air. Instead I glanced over at my colouring in book 2023 edition cover and decided to also include another challenge where I try to paint giraffes similar to my digital artworks. It’s always a challenge and I think I completed it to a better standard this time. So this is the result, the group of giraffes are all on a sick one mixed up in their decisions and the bodies are still grounded, hollow. I decided to paint this artwork after painting a very detailed artwork ‘LLM Lobotomy’ and came away from it thinking I just want to paint blue. While doing my research I decided to paint an arch that you see in many romanticism artworks, probably because of the architecture at the time. Then I decided that I want it in the sky and to just paint the scene you imagined you’d have when you grow up and have all the money in the world. You’d buy those exotic animals and have too many cars so one would always be parked and under cover in your fancy garage in the sky. So that’s what I ended up painting, the future that the child version of you wanted but in reality no one actually wants the obstacles that come with a bunch of extra cars and exotic animals. It’s fun to have it as an artwork though. I enjoyed working on the level of detail in this one compared to my older artworks. A short while before making this artwork I decided I wanted some insight into religions so I visited different places of worship during their usual worship time as a fly on the wall experience. I originally planned on visiting a Christian church, an Islam mosque and a Buddhist temple. Unfortunately this is a more exclusive activity than I thought and couldn’t figure out the Buddhist schedule. I visited an Anglican church and an Islam mosque and took part in their services. Ironically I went in expecting what the media portrayed, being in a western society we are convinced that muslims are dangerous and people of Christ are welcoming. Now flip that perspective to imagine what I experienced. I sat in the Anglican Church biting my tongue listening to the bible being recited on how they laid waste and destroyed the other beliefs scrolls (I personally hate burning literature) then praised blindly believing that God will save you. I asked, “Don’t you think you need to solve your own problems for God to open up opportunities instead of just prey?”. They preached that you are always right as well. I left feeling somewhat violated as if they’re raising narcs in that particular church. I then visited Islam and joined in with the prayers, this time they preached getting your act together, fasting is approaching and you need to be prepared, they preached contacting your loved ones and checking in. A fantastic 30m pep talk anyone could do with. The people were welcoming and I left feeling like the media wrongly portrays Muslims… or perhaps the individual journalists are prejudice. But one thing was true with both experiences. Their God/ Allah is the one true God/ Allah. Yours is wrong and they are both worshiping the right way. So this artwork is the two religions talking to each other debating who’s right. The Anglican has a severed arm from their preaching and the Muslim is put off by their actions. This artwork was requested as a non-commission based on a previous artwork I created, 'ROMSOM' which is an acronym for reflection of my state of mind and created based on a study which showed that the more greyscale a persons instagram was, the more depressive symptoms they exhibited. I'd say I've improved in painting clouds so this request ended up being a really fun challenge. This time I didn't include black in the clouds and approached them differently which I think worked out really well! There were other challenges that were interesting to paint, like the motion of the propeller and the tiny figures. This time round, since it's a non-commission, I'm allowed creative freedom and in the era of my career I'm in right now I'm really enjoying painting tiny figures in my artworks, like the artwork 'Surrealists and Psychology' and 'Running Wild with Still Life'. So I included tiny figures that pop up in my other artworks, like horses in poses you'd never be able to photograph, bunnies floating around, cacti like my main artwork 'Trauma' and my cowhide pears. I see it as you're in the sky scape of your imagination and these items are zooming around doing their own thing. What was really fun about this artwork was the request for a biplane somewhere, once I looked up examples it became a really interesting part of the artwork to paint as I've never painted one before. In the end I decided to name the artwork ROBSOM as a play on the prequel's title but instead it's Rob's state of mind. Pausing to Contemplate Over Coffee

This is an artwork I decided to paint when something didn’t go as planned so I sat on the balcony with my coffee contemplating it. Then I thought about all the times I’ve sat there with my coffee thinking something through. So that’s the birth of this concept, all the coffee’s you’ve had just sitting around thinking deeply. I also wanted to show movement and a little chaos around the subject and feel like I achieved it with this one. We all knew for the dawn of time that if you peek over at the smart kids test and copy them you get absolutely nowhere once school ends. For some reason the exact same lesson in a different futuristic concept with robots seems to be entirely lost. I began painting a dodo wedged between a stack of books aiming to look as if he’d outsmarted the system by not reading the books. Then that wasn’t going well and I went to Europe and returned to abandon the idea. Then as I painted the artwork decided to return to the concept but this time with far more detail. I painted my bird flowers (flowers that fly off into birds) then decided that some of them decide to take a swim in the Kool-aid/ golden lake then lose their wings and climb up the stack of books as if that’s their key to freedom. It’s not flying if you’re just standing up in a high spot. Interestingly as I painted this I learnt that dodo’s weren’t dumb but evolved without any predators which lead hem to extinction. I’m not a fan of the algorithms controlling my entertainment and ended up watching a bunch of old movies from the 90’s and 2000’s. We all already know that movies these days will likely suck in comparison, then adding in the internet where people upload reaction videos daily for the sake of uploading and people watch them for the sake of having background noise. We aren’t truly entertained here. There’s a few movies you can watch dozens.. maybe hundreds of times and still be entertained since they’re so well written. LOTR for example, or I ended up watching Impromptu many times. Then I decided to paint Hugh Grant statues as if each statue has a turn on stage and each time we notice something different about how the production was delivered. In the background behind the wall is the death of entertainment where a bunny on it’s last legs crawls out of the horror of braindead entertainment. This is a challenge artwork that I left at my grandma’s. During a previous visit I’d painted my grandpa who’d passed away about 30 years ago today, for my grandma. However the tools I had at hand were tricky to use and it came out mediocre at best. Since then I’ve done quite a few art challenges like busking, art battles, 80 artworks in 79 days and so on so now I have a much better grip on creating artworks in situations that aren’t ideal and with terrible paint. This time I didn’t have my trusty water mixable oils which dry much faster than the denser oils and had to use thick oils. I ended up only having two weeks for this artwork after having found turpentine (which was impossible there!). The next challenge for this artwork was the brushes. I had about seven of the same size, one large and one tiny brush, so I made this artwork with just three brushes. Unfortunately it’s not for sale but it’s here to be apart of the collection of artworks I want to share with you.

I made an artwork which I still consider my best, ‘Trauma’, and haven’t been able to recreate one just as good but I think this one might be on par. Just with less effort visible in the paint since I did all the practice on that artwork. The cacti I paint are people, roughly. This time I wanted to paint flow state, it’s the state of mind where you’re absorbed in your task but in so deep you forget you’re doing it and work autonomously while your mind wanders. This is where I am when I paint, in the rabbit hole. I think it deserved an artwork. In the bottom right I added a cherry, for the ideas that randomly pop into mind when in flow state and the clouds focused on the cactus. A million years ago in science class it stuck with me that the teacher emphasised how everything melts with time. He specified that even glass melts, as the bottom will be wider than the top a hundred years from now. Super interesting fact! Makes me think of it every time I come across a video where someone hunts down fossils inside rocks, the imprint of the living thing is interesting as I imagine the process of the living thing became stone. So I began this artwork wanting to paint the ground, the dirt, blue to resemble water, and instead it just began to resemble water. Then I included rain the way I like to paint rain, as sheets of clear blue, and a melting/ evaporating moon. If you check out the time lapse or opinionated video of the making you’ll see that I added other items then decided less is more for this artwork. I decided to paint this artwork just because I want you, the person reading this right now, to know that during the Cold War the CIA decided to strap cameras on pigeons to spy. I found this hilarious and wanted you to know about it too. The main reason I found it hilarious is as an avid DIY-er I’ve had more than enough things turn out wobbly, and this is exactly how this project turned out, a bit wobbly. The footage wasn’t ideal. As a surrealist I needed to paint this artwork in a surreal manner, plus that’s far more interesting than just human-printing out a photo you can look up. I wanted them to appear a bit strange, the way you’d feel if one landed near you. As I you’re being watched. So I added a chromatic effect and leads to the hands that are watching you. I also wanted to embody the kind of background I’d create in my digital artworks, a clear reflection as if they’re on glass and tried to use green as the sky, like my ‘Surrealists and Psychology’ artwork. This artwork went through three lives, see the documentation of the making in either the opinionated or the timeless to see it unfold. I began wanting to paint the concept that the simulation theory is just modern platonism, but the layout was rushed. Then I decided to paint different forms of water as a skill challenge, but I wanted to do it in a day as part of twenty-one artworks in twenty-one days. I then wrapped up that project and attended a lecture where I believe confirmed my opinion that we’re in the depths of a world-wide Dunning-Kruger effect with AI. The lecturer seemed to have zero concept on how vibe coders are actually creating terrible code, Obama also seems to think AI code is exceptional for some reason. I doubt he’s tried, and if he did, I assure you he’s not skilled at coding. Both claims from world renowned, respected people with no professional claim in the fields they say AI is making progress in. I’ll make more artworks on the other idea’s spawned from this but this one shows the concept of how we’re mainly using AI wrong. A fantastic concept included a video game where the boss learns your moves and makes it harder for you to win, genuinely building your human skills instead of doing it for you. Yet we live in a world where we’re too cautious to let AI be the obstacle over the enabler. The dumb will become dumber and the intelligent will prosper further creating a huge gap in our species. I watched a movie recently, it wasn’t very good and it were about a struggling writer but it sparked up an idea. Imagine if creative people ran the world? I don’t think I captured the idea in this artwork and instead painted a reflection one the work place. I once had a friend who studied marketing who said to me “One day I’ll be telling you what to do” implying her degree was better than mine. I guess she’s right about how the work place is structured however ask any designer (I’m an artist now) and they’ll tell you they’ve been instructed to execute some pretty terrible ideas. So this is working with the creative… They’re just doing it because, but really, what would you do if the creative just made the design better? This is one of my twenty-one artworks in twenty-one days. I’m not proud of this one and I didn’t time manage well at all. But it’s here and ready for its new home. I’ll try again one day. The concept for this one was to make an artwork that tells a story, which I think it does do. The way ‘Hotel California’ or ‘Hazard’, or any of Bosch artwork’s tell stories, so I whipped out my tarot deck and decided to paint three cards. I rushed it so this is the result. I wanted to include three different clouds and areas as if the protagonist is either returning or venturing out and looking back. The story is up to you. While in uni we covered the topic of whether graffiti is art or criminal (spoiler, the law says any paint on any surface that you don’t own is crime) which lead to the lecturer stating that law needs crime, the police need the criminals to keep coming in order to exist. That thought, alongside recently dealing with insane people (check out my car sign being stolen video now on YT as an example) I experienced how difficult it is to have the justice system help you out when your issue is small, yet still invasive enough that in black and white you are entitled to the help. Rewarding bad behaviour I guess. So you end up stressed out dealing with an insane person and on top of that dealing with the stress of not having a problem entertaining enough for actual help and knowing there will be consequences if you stand up for yourself outside the justice system. So the cycle continues, you’re stuck between a rock and a hard place while the system primes you to join the insanity club hoping you’ll just defend yourself. I don’t think I expressed that idea well in this artwork so I’m thinking I’ll redo it, but here’s the first version. This is the system and the lollipop begins whole then melts and is pumped back up to build up the lollipop again. I added a cloud as the environment causing the loop but I definitely regret the lightning added. I was watching the Zuckerberg Joe Rogan interview and Zuckerberg is ‘Red pilling’ just a bit… Over the past year I’ve been watching conspiracy theories for art but the ones I’ve seen (most of them) have merit. However, you can’t explain that to someone who hasn’t given more than two seconds to any of these theories without being labelled a conspiracy theorist. It’s the same as giving a movie half the trailer. I found it important to watch different people discuss the same topic. So this is the red pill… Being labelled a conspiracy theorist. I put a laser for the pyramid plant theory, a wrap to represent muslims (soon to make an artwork about religions), a satellite for the propaganda, the document where Albanese tried to cancel the internet, a COVID clot and more. I am the last person you should ask what the time is, ever. This artwork is part of my twenty in twenty days and the entire time I consistently gauged the time wrong which affected the project. While brainstorming idea’s I reflected on how I’ve encountered people who are sticklers for time, down to the minute. The kind who think being five minutes late is late, I’ve definitely been grilled by these people because they explain they think it’s out of disrespect for them. So I felt like painting a visual of what time looks like in my world vs what it’s probably like in theirs. I’m the left… and sometimes my total mess happens to throw a little shade on their blocks. It’s not intentional, my blocks are a mess all the time and sometimes there’s collateral damage. I find it vein when these people walk around thinking people bad with time are out to disrespect them. This painting is a reflection of Australian politics in 2024. I decided to complete this artwork during one of my 20 artworks in 20 days challenges so it’s not my best work, however I didn’t enjoy looking at Hitlers portrait and I didn’t like looking at Albanese’s any more. Recently I watched a Youtube video where the creator joked about Jesus and from there I came to the conclusion there aren’t enough Jesus paintings. All the actual Jesus paintings I’ve seen are from the 1400’s and earlier, I also wanted him to be a hippy, so the new owner can be in a mood then look over at the artwork and think “What would Jesus do?”… This Jesus. While creating the artwork I learnt that there are sects of religions that follow the bible who allow icons and some that don’t. Then I went a step further for a new artwork to visit a few different religious places of worship and found that some religions take it seriously and other just say they don’t have icons, but seem to have them there in plain sight. So this is an artwork for the Jesus lovers who allow icons and want a real artwork, made with love and definitely not a print (prints of paintings… my own personal form of blasphemy). Shortly before painting this artwork I adventured to the NSW Gallery and admired the skill in the historic artworks that depict clouds, that alongside an installation that reminds me of Khazad-Dum and the dragons castle in Shrek. When I’m in a place like this, with pillars everywhere, there’s a specific atmosphere that comes along with it so I wanted to convey that with this artwork. This artwork follows one I created in 2019, ‘Corporate’. I really like it, even the version I can colour in in my colouring in books. The artwork also follows on from my other artwork, ‘Trauma’ where the universe just dumps paint on you and you need to grow through it. When I worked in corporate I hated it, I was rapidly wasting my life being a puppet for people I swear are incredibly miserable. Selling my soul… Quite often people who work nine to five tell me about what’s really grinding their gears at the time. Work’s always the focus of their attention and never positive, then you hear about how team mates throw each other ‘under the bus’. It’s a total mess. I originally named the artwork “Corporate Mess” painting a continuation of the previous artwork, just zoomed out, hen decided to name it “2”. During an adventure to the PIX exhibition I saw a photograph of a car, I’m not sure if the tyres were white walls or actually glowing, it’s a black and white photo I only briefly looked at but I liked the idea. So I began working on a digital artwork where the tyres would glow and that’s the only goal. This artwork ended up going through a couple transformations and it may be worth watching the making of it.

This is an artwork I thought up while colouring in a doughnut page in my colouring in book series and decided I want to make a doughnut with loads of tiny giraffe sprinkles. From there I wanted to create an artwork where some of the main object is cut out, like a mid shot. As I created the doughnut I wanted a new doughnut since I’ve used it so much and rendered up a new one then when importing it into Photoshop from Blender I couldn’t decide what colour to make it, then I ended up wanting to make it look electric, like my ‘Hippy Hippo’ artwork. This is the final result.

I really like that one, it’s simple but so complicated simultaneously, so I recreated it with the Beetle. This time I didn’t zoom in to the edges and it just turned out different by approaching it differently.

I recently created an artwork, ‘Smokey Bird’, which is what sparked the idea. Since birds fly around so quick I wanted to create an artwork with heaps of birds shooting around the page. This is a digital artwork I first created after my 80 artworks project had wrapped up and I now have a new approach to make artworks far more intricate than before. I sparked up an idea to create a cloud exploding cartons of milk, as I created the artwork it then changed as it came to fruition. I wanted to leave the artwork having created something using a photo I hadn’t used in a while, so instead of the milk, I ended up using the turtle. Recently before creating this artwork (one of my 80), I’d turned my giraffe into zebra print and cleaned up the beetle photos. I imagined something slightly different (less busy) when thinking I wanted to be one of those people who’d created an artwork with a zoo animal in a car. However after putting it together I found it a bit small and needed to give the two a scene. From there I decided to pull up the paint, add a fence made of bicycles the add the flying cars from another recent artwork (which hasn’t been shared yet).

I tend to tell people I’m annoyed with them… conflict resolution. However before creating this I thought about the people around me who have an issue with something and act like they’re all fine. Society doesn’t really allow room for people to have a mood anymore, especially with this mental health movement, despite being a human function. We seem to be expected to be corporate 24/7 and handle things in a passive aggressive manner by being polite. Sometimes the situation calls for telling people how it is and you won’t look professional, there’s a chance you may be diagnosed with a disorder by your local hairdresser and that’s how it is. It’s impossible to resolve conflict with passive aggressive people to be frank, and I genuinely wonder, when’s the tipping point? When’s the bottle going to break and overreact? Why would anyone act this way to be liked. I originally imagined up a more detailed artwork but as I continued to create it, that didn’t fit the concept… Outside the bottle (their mind) everything’s calm, quiet, nothing is out of place. As I watched an astrology lecture I noticed one of the astrologers who’s opinion I respect mention “magic”. At first I thought he was joking then I realised, no, this person genuinely believes in magic. Down the magic rabbit hole I went and learnt that there’s a whole community that believe in magic. Respectable people. Listening to how they came to make sense of it made sense to me and up it’s to this artwork description reader to learn for themselves. However the gist is these people are manipulating the luck they have at hand, not working spells to be billionaires that we’d all assume. I continue this train of thought in a different artwork, however this idea pivots in comparison to the other. During my rabbit hole hunt I came across a story about a well respected psychologist(?) who had the chance to speak somewhere. He picked someone from the audience to take his jacket and he’ll give them $10. Gladly they did. Until he told them a murderer owned this jacket. How can you entirely dismiss magic yet believe a jacket is tainted because a murderer owned it. Perhaps some people are more in tune, a sentence that comes up often. I painted the jacket in the forefront, and each pear representing people front and centre, however the more in tune pear had a mini world swirling around it. Perhaps this could be the most interesting still life image you’ll see today. If you can call it still life. I woke up from a dream shortly before painting this artwork, well... I thought I woke up from a dream, then I thought I woke up from a dream again, then I woke to a dream that was actually a dream then I actually woke up. I found this insane, I’d never had such a weird experience and had to paint it, I felt like Christopher Nolan must have had a similar dream in order to feel compelled to write ‘Inception’. All that aside, I rushed into painting it and don’t think I captured what I felt, but here’s to the first attempt! The first two dreams were entirely mundane which threw me off, the last one, clearly I was in a dream at that point. So I painted an entry, a super basic entry, then a garden, then a wave in a room. This is an artwork I created in the final week of my 80 artworks and during the whole event I’d turned off my notifications, the radio and pretty much any outside world distractions. This was an enjoyable activity and when it ended I told people “I’ve resurfaced from the rabbit hole”. I had no clue what’s been going on in the real world. At the end when I made this I had a feeling I’d been living in a different world to everyone else. So here’s the rabbit hole, the rabbits never end. In case another artist glances over this artwork, this is aimed at some of my peers. As someone who isn’t surrounded by art lovers or enthusiasts I’m letting you know that the general public still and has always looked at artworks with no effort put in it and ask themselves “WTF is this shit?”. I will redo this concept with a different take however when I saw someone on tv explaining to someone else it’s what the artwork makes them feel I felt like painting this. I feel conned from both perspectives as a viewer and an artist. I feel conned that someone else created something that looks like a 5 yr old made it and expects people to buy into it (literally) without giving the buyer a good reason except for the artists name being attached to it. As an artist I feel conned as people don’t have high expectations until they see my artworks, these artworks create a low bar of expectations and make the career choice look bad. I’m embarrassed to be in the same (general) category. I aimed for a simple artwork for two reasons, 80 artworks in 79 days, and I originally imaged a statue of a bust, giant like this one and half finished by one of these trendy artists. I painted a paint brush thrown at it, since that’s what I imagine these people are doing. I’ll have another go at this with an entirely different scene soon. You can see this trend particularly pronounced in elite art competitions, “Call for shitty artists”, said no one ever. It’s time for people creating these to reconnect with the general public over an elite crowd propping them up. This artwork is one of my 80 in 79 days and I decided to paint the feeling of a night walk. However this turned out very different to the idea I had in mind which included a building. I painted the rain as sheets of water hanging off the clouds alongside another artwork I painted that week, evaporating from the river. Including the water for that feeling of a cold breeze and boats sailing along the sand like the quiet, out of place vibe. This is an artwork I decided to paint when noticing how much I appreciate watching 80’s rock music videos, then watch the talented people become so successful so young. So this is how I feel when seeing them, like a skeleton still waiting on something I do to create the same success. I painted the moon on the skeletons side stuck in a bubble, similar to a chain of thoughts from my digital artworks where I began with a cross walking sign which turned into feet in a bubble. The carpet turns into blood and the (for anyone outside my train of thought) the rectangular prisms with waves on them is a fence separating the two worlds.. This artwork is a slight continuation from last week and a mix of another artwork I created a while back which I enjoy, ‘Midnight Snack’. There’s something I haven’t been able to recreate about that artwork yet so I gave it another go with this artwork (not quite there yet). I’m really into my crepes, I think I’ve got them down. Each day at brunch I have a lovely snack with crepes admiring how the plants have grown over the past day. I have them with a coffee, ham and creamed honey and used to have a swarm of bees visit (hoping to staunch some honey). I recently discovered that I know someone else who’s also more than happy to eat the same meals every day. When I think about discussions with people about eating the same meal every day it seems to be quite a topic of debate, one person assumed I felt the same way they did and tried relating with me about the struggle of having to find a new cereal or type of breakfast each day. I couldn’t relate. I’m pretty chuffed to have a fruit salad each morning and the way I prepare it doesn’t sit pretty with a few people either; using frozen mango. Frozen mango is definitely my preference in any regard! I decided to paint these ideas as my fruit salad stuck into a can shape... Being stuck in my ways. Before you read the description, and since you’re likely reading this online and already seen the title I want you to take part in this artwork and take a moment to decypher the artwork and interpret to make sense in your own way before reading on. I hope you joined in! I really bothers me how we live in such a PC world where all the words ever are being transformed into offensive words, yet people find substitutes to describe what they’re saying anyway. A word cannot be offensive since a word has no intention, it’s just a word. Although the people who continually and collectively decide to use any word in a derogatory manner change it’s definition into something gross. I could write an endless list of words that aren’t socially acceptable until you feel like you’re a woman in the 50’s however I’ll focus on these three. Recently I felt frustrated that the postie couldn’t find the damn front door to deliver my parcels so as I complained I said “no man, he’s just an idiot you need to train him xyz” the person stopped to debate my use of language and it came as a surprise to me I can’t use “idiot” to describe this persons actions. “Idiot” is a person with an IQ below 80, can’t find the door? My statement was factual and not malicious. I also found myself looking up the real definition of autism during my frustration of people confusing geniuses with autism and saw that when autism was first defined they used the words “idiot/ idiot savant” without censoring it, this alongside other books such as ‘Genius, The Natural History of Creativity’ openly use the word “idiot” as factual (and so on). The final word, “genius” has been used incorrectly in so many examples it seems as if no one really knows what a genius is and often label prodigies and people with autism as geniuses. Dangerous territory in my opinion, start labelling a prodigy as a genius and they’ll lose motivation by the time they grow and their peers catch up (therefore not a real genius). Start labelling autistic people who are also prodigies and you see this gross fad of neurotypical people claiming they’re autistic to feel special, I’m disgusted by that behaviour. I didn’t live in the early 1900’s however looking back at artworks from the 1700’s I see paintings of servants and slaves in respectable ways, I genuinely don’t believe that the word “nigger” has always been an insult, only the way that people have chosen to use it in an offensive manner dirties up the word to now stand as one of the most offensive words out there. However I’m neither white or black and opt out from great debate of who can use the word without offence. Artworks in my opinion are an exception, Beyonce’s ‘Lemonade’ and Quentin Trarantino’s ‘Django’ as popular examples. Now that you see my point of view here’s the artwork and your interpretation. I painted three random items at my disposal (video on YT of the making) and they have no relation to the title, however accidentally they can relate; the cactus has no brain (idiot) the chocolate is brown (nigger) and the paint could be of a genius. That’s what people I’ve shown in real life also come to see. However that’s just what you did with your own perception. You labelled them and you decided their meanings on your own. These are just objects and being puppeteered above showing a finger slightly out of view and the shirt buttons in the background. Enjoy your perspective on these innocent words and objects! I began painting this painting with the idea that I'd paint a table of terrible food, burnt and undercooked food. Although as I made the background I'd realised that I can't have the foreground detailed as well as the background so the painting ended up taking a path parallel to most of my cooking ventures; I start off with an idea and then it derails. I'm quite happy with how the painting ended up (unlike my meals) and decided the front is a vague result, coining the term (yep I'm coining it) geometric surrealism. The painting’s original idea came from a weird situation I find myself in. I'm lactose and gluten intolerant and sugar doesn't sit well so people like to take shortcuts when inviting me for food and end up poisoning me (testing my diet, specifically people skeptical of gluten intolerance) so I'm left with the only alternative to invite them over for bad food instead. This is a painting I created where I have bubbles sitting on a landscape with sheets of water (like some of my previous paintings) resting on them. It reminded me of day-dreams, in this painting and once soon to follow I use bubbles to represent dreams/ the mind. I decided to paint my feelings on décor art. The walls are cactus spikes, like some of my best paintings, at the bottom I painted a man hanging a frame (the décor art.......) as if he's framing the wall and at the top I painted a nod to renaissance art where you can see roof arches and biblical characters in them. Jesus is on the right, dead and holding up two fingers as his coat melts and flies away in the form of little birds. On the right you can see a man ready to jump the wall (for a fihgt), being held back by another and a woman watching over, hiding. I used to have dreams of tidal waves, people like to jump to conclusions and say that's anxiety.. I reckon sometimes dreams are just dreams, especially if you remember them all you're bound to have some that aren't boring. I found these dreams pretty cool because as time went on I learnt how to dream-swim and beat the tidal wave. Then when I figured it out the dreams changed. The last one I climbed up on top of a building and the water settled around all the buildings into a flood, so this is that. I wanted to paint the sky so that it blends in with the water, like an actual dream you cant tell what's what. I decided not to paint the top of the head because there's no thinking in dreams. This panting is music, I recently sold an artwork and the buyer received it then responded with a piece of music he created inspired by the artwork. That piece of music then inspired me to create this artwork. You'd need to watch the last 30s of the video to really get it. When I recently looked up a Kandinsky documentary on his synaesthesia and music he was able to identify instruments to their colours, I feel like music is so saturated with synthetic sounds I'm not there yet.. although this piece was quite clear, the beat are dark blue spots floating high up in the air, the higher piano keys are pink stairs and the lower piano are light blue floating sheets of water. The artwork also had a very bright vibe to it so I needed the artwork to be in day time. Oil based, sold with hooks ready to hang and a certificate of authenticity!
